Tramadol info

Hi everyone,
I am sorry if i posted this in the wrong place again (first time here), i wasnt exactly sure where to post my question...but here goes. ;)

I have a question about tramadol...my DR prescribed 2 tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours for pain for a bad toothache, cuz i didnt want to take vicodins or percs, and my DR told me that tramadol is non narcotic, and non habit forming, and better for me that narcotic painkillers etc...etc..

My question is this...i have noticed when i take these tramadols that if i am depressed ( which i have been battling for years) my depression eases up, and i also get a fuzzy headed feeling, and i feel calm and slightly high ...just like with taking vicodins...but its not as strong.
Is this all in my head as my DR says...or is this tramadol a lighter form of a narcotic?
Has anyone else experienced these same things while taking tramadol ?
Any info would be greatly appreciated...Thank you!!!

Hi there
Like Avisg was saying ultram is my DOC. It has some properties similar to anti depressants. That's why it helps your depression. In small doses it is mild, but in larger doses 100+ mg/dose it's the devil. I w/d C/T when learning I was preg. Why I started back after delivery and breastfeeding is beyond me...W/D was hell. Seizures are a risk when taking the drug esp at real high doses. You also shouldn't take it w/certain antidepressant for risk of serotonin syndrome which is rare but serious.I'm not aware of seizure risk when going c/t,never have read that in any journals/medical texts but you wish you could just not exist the w/d is that bad.Ibuprofen works better for me for legit pain. MD's are not aware of ultrams potency it really should be sch'ed and I'd say it will be one day.Good Luck:)

toothaches suck, go to a denist if you can, they will give you a topical gel like oralgel but stronger, this will numb and help with the pain.when i have a toothache my denist will give me a shot of novacane just for some relief if only for 4 hours, at least it is something. then he gives me some of the topical gel and it helps..

I asked about Tramadol yesterday and got a slew of responses telling me 1. they don't work for pain; 2. they are HIGHLY addictive; 3. the withdrawal is WORSE than from opiates, even dangerous to your health. I'm not going to take them and canceled my appointment with the doctor who recommended them.

Thank you blot out and avis for your replies!! :)

My Dr prescribed 30 tramadol to me last week for a toothache, and i havent taken many at all...its just when i do take them i feel kinda high and all calm. to me they seem just like a narcotic...but lighter...my dr says what i am experiencing is in "in my head". so to speak.

i was on tramadol for quite awhile, i took them between my lortab refills, i found they were almost as bad, i liked the way they made me feel almost as much as the lortabs, at some point my doctor nocticed i was taking both, so knowing i needed something for pain kept me on the lortabs. your dr, is wrong they are addictive. but they do help for mild pain and if you need something for pain take them as directed when you feel better quit.
