Tramadol withdrawal

Hi Guys,
I wanted to know realistically how long taking Tramadol aprox 400mg per day will take to withdraw from.  I have looked on this message board and there are so many contradictions.  I have been taking it for 2 months and stopped taking it and started feeling awful.  I could not believe that taking this for such a short period of time could be a problem.  When withdrawing from Tramadol which day is worse. I am trying to figure out how bad I can get while using this for a short period of time.  Some say it is not a big deal compared to Oxy Contin.  Somebody else wrote that is was worse than Heroin.  I am pretty sure length of time using and amount are key here so please if somebody can give me a realistic overview I would appreciate it!

thank you so much for your help.  How long were you taking tramadol for?  It seems to me that some people don't have much of a problem if they have been on them less than 6 mos.  Is this pretty much the idea...I feel awful but not as bad as coming off of Oxy Contin and mad at myself as I thought Tramadol was habit forming but had not physical withdrawal.  I got a few ativan at the clinic, that is all they would give me so at least I feel a little more relaxed...

Trams have a long half life so the. W/ds take a little longer before they start (usually the worst starts on day 2) and for me it was a really bad 7 days! I have successfully come of Norcos and the bad w/ds didnt last but 4-5 days. Trams are a tough drug to kick not gonna lie! My advice is you should NOT c/t them if u can avoid it! Theses should be done on a slow taper because of the seizure risk. Do you have a Dr. Who can help you come off these? For me, the 7 days i w/d because i did c/t were so bad i relapsed to oxys and then norcos.  Not trying to scare you but just making sure you know everything.

With that said, many have successfully come off trams even c/t.  But again i HIGHLY recommend a taper plan if u can do it!

This is a great forum for help and advice so stick close!

Hi keetzy and abbey50.. ive come off of ultram in the past and it was awful.  It lasted about 5-7 days of hard wd then day by day got easier. I can tell u Imodium works AMAZING along with zzzquil ( makers of nyquil) to help with sleep issues. I kno it sounds impossible but getting outside for a little walk also helped. Taking really really hot baths helped too. Im a heroin addict and in some aspects the wd is worse but not all of it. Check out the Thomas recipe tht works really well too. More ppl will come along with more info as well. Hang in there u can do this if i really want it and put ur mind to it!!!! Good luck!
