Tramadol withdrawals and Zofran

Hi i have been taking tramadol for over 3 years but for 2 only once in a while last year i had a very huge family problem and threw my self on the pills, end up taking 7/8 pills (50mg) a day for about 4 months,I'm now on my second day of withdrawal and I'm not so bad yet, the worse is the energy levels, I'm taking tubercoulosis treatment so my Doctors have me Zofran for the side effects of the treatment and I'm taking the chance to use the zofran they have me to kick the habit as far as possible, have any of you have use Zofran for withdrawals and i would like to know what to expect next, I have flu symptoms, cramps and stomach discomfort, i also take DayQuil for the sweeting.
I hope everyone that is reading and have gone thru it gives some piece of advice i wanna make it thru and i dont have no one to talk to, no one knew except my husband ( who has been a great support) but nothing better then knowing exactly what others are feeling.

I feel soooo much better tonight ,my mom is making me her famous (natural) vegetable juices, taste horrible but i drink it every morning and i feel soo much better i think i made it thru, i only have some chills and sweats but that's nothing compare with the last couple days.!!! I drink lots and lots of water also and i walked every single day even if i didnt feel like i pushed my self and i think is working , i will keep doing it even after the withdrawal is over because i feel great.!!! And i have to say that my hope and Strenght was /is and will always be God !.! I thank him for the strenght and mercy ,never looking back or miss those evil pills.
If you are thinking of quitting , dont think much just do it , is the best thing you will ever do for your self , I'm still in withdrawal but i can feel the freedom, and believe me is amazing, way better than the high from those pills.!
I also shut down every access to the pills, in case of temptation.

i know how you feel.  hopefully you don't have access to any trams.

i felt like the exorcist and i had a patch in my drawer.  knowing i could of ended the horrific withdrawals by just putting that patch on was tempting, but i didn't.  why would i want to start all over???  noooooooo wayyyyyyy

hang in there.  the more you move around, the better you will feel.  try and at least walk a little bit outside.  walk down the street and back.
then walk a little further.  trust me, you will feel soooooooooo much better.

are you taking your b vitamins?  highly recommend the sublingual b12 tablets. $4 at walmart.  also, search on here for the amino acid protocol then make a trip to gnc and it should speed up the process.
energy is ALWAYS the last thing to come back.  i am about 56 days off fentanyl and i still feel like i am carrying an elephant around on my shoulders.

Oh yes, go through and read the posts from others who are detoxing right now  For some reason that really helped me and I have had others tell me that  it helped them too :-)

Day 3 is usually the worst for everyone.  If you have a symptom use a corresponding item (the stuff listed above or in Thomas recipe).  Other than that just accept what Gnarly says....be okay with not being okay.  Watch some good comedies....try to get outside and take a walk...keep your mind busy.  The w/d's seem much much worse if all you do is lie around feeling miserable and dwelling on the symptoms.  I just kept telling myself I had a really bad flu bug!

Welcome to the forum, girl~
Congrats on being on Day 2. I understand the "wanting to be free" as I went cold turkey, too.  However, with Tramadol, "most" recommend not going cold turkey due to seizure risk.  Because it is a synthetic opioid and also has an antidepressant component in it, it can take a little longer to leave your body and that is what also makes it a possible seizure risk.  I do have a few friends here on the forum that DID go CT from tramadol....so you have to do what your dr and you decide is best for YOU.

There are a few links I wanted to share with you.  They are good to read when detoxing.....maybe you will find something in them that benefits you.

This last link is an ongoing journal where tramadol warriors talk to each other specifically about getting free from tramadol.

Hope this helps some.  Keep posting....let us know how you are doing, ok?

Okay, good luck to you and come back to post as much as you need to, read other posts...it helps to know you are not the only one going through it....and read through the list of items that help and pick up whatever you think you could use.

You sound very determined so I'm sure you can see this through!

Well then, the best thing you can do is do what you can to ease the W/D symptoms.  Search for Thomas Recipe...you'll get some ideas there.

You can also try these things:

Immodium (a must)
Epsom Salts (Hot baths with this will help get rid of the toxins)
Hylands Restless Leg Tablets
Lots of Water (don't get dehydrated)
Protein Shakes or something like that if your tummy won't let youeat
Cal-Mag-Zinc 3 in one vitamin (to take at night)
Super B Complex (I prefer B-12) for energy
Chocolate (to satisfy the brain pleasure center)
Melatonin or Zzzzquil to help with sleep (helps some, some it doesn't help)
Valerian to help with the anxiety

None of these are addictive and after the first 3-5 days you should be able to quit most of the items.  Some of the items (if you've never taken before) you should check with your doctor first to make sure they won't hurt your treatment).

One thing to think about.  When my husband was going through treatment the doctors were specific that he should not cold turkey anything because he could end up in the hospital.  Could you talk to your doctor and get on a tapering plan?  We can't give advice on that here but your doctor could.  That might be the safest way to go.

Zofran is for nausea...other than helping to settle your tummy it probably won't do much for withdrawal.  Can you ask your doc for clonidine?  It does help with withdrawal symptoms and with cravings.  Because of your treatment I really hesitate to give you much advice even on OTC drugs...one of them might react badly ... I know this from hubby's cancer treatment.  Please be sure to talk to your doctor first before taking something new.  You might want to talk to your doctor about B-12 injections to help with the energy.
