Tramadol

A friend of mine is taking Ultram 50's (i think they're 50's) almost daily & often 2-3 times daily. She is going to have surgery, the MD's are aware that she takes it, but I am worried that she will go into withdrawal following the surgery if she doesn't get it after. She thinks not, as she says, she doesn't get high from it, doesn't abuse it (which she doesn't)so there for she is not addicted. I don't know, I think that if she is taking it everyday even if it is for real pain, that she is physically addicted to it. I also think that the doc's just don't know how addictive this medication really is. What do you all think?

since she's having surgery, they will probably be giving her something else thats similiar to ultram.  It will probably keep the w/d's at bay.  just my thoughts?

That's exactly what I do!  I'm a firm believer in prayer and a firm believer in the one in which I pray to....  I'll put your friend on my list!  :)

Maybe not addicted but probably dependent which will mean that she will go through WD's if she stops.... especially cold turkey.  You certainly don't have to be addicted to experience withdrawl symptoms.  That just naturally happens over a relatively short amount of time.

Read some of the posts around here about Ultram or Tramadol.  Some of them are kinda scary.  Best of luck to your friend and their surgery.  Please keep us posted.
