Tylenol PM ? ? ?

Tylenol PM ? ? ?

I have been taking tylenol pms for about the past 4 years to help me sleep, I cannot fall asleep without them.  At the beginning I was only taking two pills when needed but now I have to take 12 a night just to get sleepy, Is there any way I can reduce my usage or what could happen if I keep taking them at the rate I am ?

Hello and welcome to the forum. To answer the first question Yes you can stop taking them.. anytime you take a sleep aid you are only to take for 3 weeks and then stop for a week.. I would recommend stopping altogether and getting a Natural sleep aid like Melatonin for sleep.. our you can slowly decrees them.. To answer your second question if you keep taking them you can go into liver failure our kidney failure.. that is a lot of Tylenol and your liver can not process it. If you continue to have problems I would speak with your Dr. He has heard this before so you do not have to be embarrassed.. a few sleepless nights would be worth freeing you of this.. You also might ask for a blood panel drawn to check the health of your liver. I wish you well.. lesa

hi...i m not really sure what can happen but all that tylenol can t be good....have you ever heard of melatonin?  it s a natural hormone our brains produce for sleep....it s non addicting but it has no pain reliever if you have pain.  you can buy them at any grocery/drug store...usually by the vitamin section...each pill is 3mg.....about 30/45 minutes before bedtime you take them.  i take 6 mg when i use them...you also have no groggyness or feel foggy in the morning.  good luck to you...maria
