Ultracet and addiction

My husband just had his Gallbladder removed and he was addict for 13 years he's been clean for 7 the dr prescribed him Ultracet and he's scared to take it for the pain because of his addictive past. The Dr knew he was a addict and told him they are not addictive but reading online it says it is should he get the script filled or just take OTC meds? If OTC what should he take?

Yes its amazing how glib Drs are YES THESE ARE ADDICTIVE. CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF YOU.
It would be very wise to do as clean-in-ks advises.
Why undo all the hard work. Its something you both have to be aware of as all Addicts have to unfortunately for the rest of their lives including myself. Hugs to you both and hope hubby is on the mend.

Welcome to the forum~
It's amazing to me that there are still doctors out there telling people that Tramadol is not addictive.  Ultracet is Tramadol and Acetaminophen.  Your husband is a WISE man to question this before he takes it!  Congrats to him on 7 yrs Clean!!!  If he is able to tolerate NSAIDS, he could take those or just acetaminophen (w/o the synthetic opioid, i.e. tramadol).  I find that Advil Liqui-Gel Capsules work the best for me and there are generic versions of this too at Walmart or Walgreens.  So glad he asked before taking it.  Recovering addicts have a responsibility to ALWAYS thoroughly check out any medication prescribed to them.
Hope your hubby heals quickly....Good on ya both!
