Ultram and MS Contin

Hello all...I was on MS Contin for 20+ years (3-4 30 mg a day) for arthritis.  Aug. 29, 2007 I took my last pill with the support of my husband, doctor, and boss.  I first went through 4 weeks of pure hell, then several months of breathing problems, anxiety attacks, runny nose, cough, muscle cramps.  It is now almost 1 year since that day, and I have been great for about 5 months...no more withdrawal.  There is one concern...my doctor gave me ultram 2 months ago, and after checking on this drug, I've read that you don't give ultram to anyone after addiction to drugs like morphine.  Today is Tuesday, and I took my last 4 last Sunday.  Now, I'm afraid I'll have more withdrawal systems.  I have no craving for any type of drug now, but I'll never take any chances again.  Anyone out there have any thoughts on this?  Should I worry?

Well, today is another day, and still no withdrawal systems...maybe you are right and all will be well.  I can't for the life of me understand why the doctor would give me ultram after the year of withdrawal from ms contin and tell me they won't hurt me.  Thanks for your reply.....only had 2 replies, yours and GoingToMakeIt.  I appreciate your taking the time to answer my post.

If you have no cravings for them that is a very good sign..perhaps all will be well

Sorry no one answered this! You are right in your research. Ultram is a synthetic opiate and should not be taken by opiate abusers. I am hoping that you will not have much problem getting off of this since it has already been almost 2 days.
