Ultram for Sub withdrawals

Since ultram (tramadol) is non-narcotic can I use it to get off suboxone?  I am down to 1.5 mg of sub per day but get withdrawals after 24 hrs.  I know ultram can be addicting but if I use it for maybe 5 or 6 days to replace sub will I avoid sub withdrawals altogether.  I figure if I quit sub c/t it will probably
take about of week of withdrawals.  Will ultram help avoid withdrawal altogether?   anybody know??

Be careful with Ultram.  It may be a non-narcotic,  but it can be very addicting.  I spent 5 days in detox 2 years ago with an Ultram addiction.  Never thought it was possible that it could happen, but surprise, surprise!!!  Most docs will tell you that that is why they prescribe it, because it is suposedly non addicting.  I think they need to do a little more research on Tramadol.  I know very little about Suboxone, but I've heard many good things about it.  Not sure which way for you to turn.  God Bless, Tom

I have been told suboxone withdrawals are similar to methadone withdrawals, just as long -2-4 weeks, but not as intense. but i havent been there yet, i have been on suboxone for almost 8 weeks, but would be interested if anyone else has been there yet. i take 16mg-20mg of suboxone daily and still feel like ****, doc said my dose should be increased, but i am afraid to go there. please post if and when you find out about suboxone withdrawals...thanks and love to all

hey, thanks!  Who really knows what I'll do because I don't.  I really don't want to go from one thing to the next.  The more I think I might just continue my taper on meth. then slow it way down thowrds the end. I've been on it so long what's a few more months and then just work my *** off to stay clean.
thank you, Robin

Suboxone can be your best friend or your worst enemy.  I used it to get clean from Vicodin addiction.
Doctor put me on a 3 week program. Started at 4mg/day which is actually quite a low dosage to start at. He advised even after sub will still need to go thru some mild withdrawals for awhile. I was afraid and kept using sub for maintenance for about two months.
Big mistake! Got hooked on it. Trying to get off. I would advise to use it only for a short time.
Then taper slowly but not for more than two weeks or so. It works very well if used correctly.
Use only the smallest amount that keeps away withdrawals and then taper down from there.  Good luck.

hey, sorry I can't help you I know nothing about ultram.  But maybe you could tell me about suboxone?  I'm working on a detox from methadone.  I've been on it a number of years and really "for me" it's worked well, but the whole clinic situation has just become so old.  but because I've been doing so well I want to finish my taper and get on suboxone.  I'm nerves going from one that works to something that's unknown.  I also thought of just getting off methadone and tring to stay clean, but really that scares me to death because sometimes the shot crosses my mind.  Anyway sorry I was'nt any help.
