Ultram

I went to the doctor today.  I just found I have severe osteoporis with severe bone loss in my hips I was told that if I fall I am quaranteed a broken hip.  I havea alot of pain, he gave celebrex to take and it ate up stomaach and my GERD worse so I told him that.  His plan is start me on Ultram.  I have never taken the stuff and I have heard people say it was the worse thing to w/d from.  I take that back I did have ultram about a year ago and when I took them I could not tell I had taken anything.  I am naive in asking what were the problems with the ultram? And why so hard to w/d from.  I dont want to start this medicaine if is going to mess me up even more.  I would apprecaite any information possible as to how much you were taking, what it did to you and so forth.  I wanted some back infor before starting this medication.

Trams are a synthetic narcotic but also sits on some of the mood receptors so dperession during wd can be worse than narcotics alone...kind of a double whammy...i have taken them and did not abuse them with no addiction but that is not how it goes for some...i cant feel any buzz but i always took the dose prescribed...it is a risky option to be approached with caution

Ultram is not recommended to those with opiate addiction problems. It is a synthetic opiate and it is addictive too. To get off of it is always best to taper off of due to the seizures that can result.

i have never had ultram, but many here have and say they are very addictive.  the w/ds are longer and worse.  i am not sure why.  i do know those who have gotten off say there is a big risk of eizures.  you are wise ot do your homework on this drug.  avis our forum moderator, was on it.  send her a note or pm and she will be glad to help you.  i think sje also has some info in her journals on it.  good luck
