Up schit creek

Hello all.  I have been taking hydrocodone for about 12 years now off and on.  It wasn't until my surgery in 2008 that I started taking them on a daily basis.  I have been taking an average of about 80 mg a day since then without any type of scrips.  Now all my resources have been depleted, and I no longer have a supplier.  I am completely out of pills now, and I fear I may lose my job.  It's impossible for me to function normally seeing how I work around the public.  Any advice about how to ease the pains of withdraw would be greatly appreciated.  I was also wondering if I should just man up and go to my doctor to tell him what I've gotten myself into to see if he can help me out in some way.  Thanks.

Hi and welcome!!  I would tell your doctor what is going on.  Just being honest with him will make you feel better.  Look in the health pages that are on the right hand side of this page.  You will find either the Thomas Recipe or the amino acid protocol.  Stay positive during this period also.  Drink plenty of fluids, get up and move around as much as you can.  You can do this........Nothing is impossible~~~~

Check into some recovery care.  That is very important.  After the wd's is when the tough part starts........sara

Do you have RLS at night keeping you awake?  If you do, try magnesium/calcium supplement, heating pad and hot bath in epsom salt.  (plain hot bath if no salt!)  The supplement will calm you down some.  If that doesn't help, try Hylands Leg Cramps or Restful legs.  They work GREAT for cramps and RLS.

If you are just staying awake cause you are in WD......I'm afraid you just have to wait that out.  Over the counter sleep aids can make RLS 100 times worse!  I could never take them when I was in WD.

Try a hot bath before you get in bed.  Some say NyQuil works well.  (without the decongestant!)  Main thing that will help is TIME.......sorry!

Good luck!

Day Two, and not feeling so hot. Went to work and made it to about 11 a.m.  If I had some pills I would def take a handful right about now.  Guess its a good thing I don't because I would hate to be back at square one.  Work wouldn't be so bad if I could get a couple hours of sleep.  I've tried everything to get some winks and it just aint happening.  Haven't tried the mallet yet though, but I'll save that for my last resort.  Any tips on how to keep the eyes closed would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks to everyone for their support it's awesome.  Keep ya updated.

Calamity is right.  I'm feeling so much better today.  Back at work tomorrow.  Feels great going to the job I'm paid for not loaded.  It is doable and after that DT peak, it's better every day.  I'm wishing I'd have manned up and did this much earlier. It can be done by yourself without med help.

I was at 100mgs a day when I stopped.  The first 4 days are the hardest.  Everyone I know that works for a living has had the flu for 3 or 4 days.  Dont let work be the reason you cant seize this chance to improve your life beyond belief.   Honestly the withdrawal monster isn't all you have it built up in your mind to be.  Its doable.   I used microwavable heating discs to put in my clothing when I couldnt be in the hot water. I took vitimans and exercised everyday after 3 days or so.  I posted here alot !  My user name was alittle different clamity2  . couldnt get on with it so changed my spelling to what I had met in the first place ")      I hope you do this for yourself its so worth it !!

I just went cold turkey from a oxy addiction.  You name the oxy, I took it. I was taking 80 plus mg a day for three years.  I'm on day 4 and feeling much better. Day two and a half were my worst moments.  Shaking, stomach cramps, bad bad bad diahrea, crawling skin, painfull skin, coughing and sneazing and finally it dosen't feel like my spine is being ripped from my body any longer. I am so tired now, but feel like alot of the physicall problems have abated a little.  I miss my oxy so much but feel so free to enjoy my life.  After this experience I feel certain that I'll never go back.  The money I spent was astonishing as well.  I sometimes work in the public. I took a few days off to deal with this though. I just kept remembering, and still am what I went through to get a dose  and all the worry I had if I couldnt get enough or any. Hang in there and try try try.  I also kept enough doses around if I just couldn't do it.  Flushed them this morning because they were such a huge part of my routine. On instinct I wanted to take em all.  I'm so proud of getting this far.  I spent alot of time at my sickest thinking of the reason those things were bad and the effect it had on those closest to me, my wife and kids.  You need supporters and people to cry to, at least I did. I'm ashamed of the things they went without so I wouldn't be sick. I owe them and this is a start. So if your body is like mine, I'd guess day four will be when  you start to notice improvement.  My job is physicall demanding and I just took a little run to see how that would go.  One very slow mile, but the sweat helped.  So maybe when you can step away from the toilet for longer than twenty minutes, you can take a short walk or some type of mild exersise.  So I wish you luck and feel for you and your situation.  Also if your in that can't hold still pain, I took real hot soaker baths and that added some relief while I was in there. Here is what I did for food.  Ramen noodles, As much water as I could stand and vitamin C (liquid) and a few crackers. Could be the completely wrong diet, but I'm new at detoxing. Good luck to you.
