Update on Me

Update on Me

I want to again thank everyone here for being so supportive, especially bama (and my prayers are with you). I have been sober for five weeks tomorrow. I am going to NA meetings with a good friend who went through the same thing over two years ago. At times it has been so difficult, not so much wanting the lortabs but the pain. I have a chronic condition (actually more than one) in my neck that sometimes knots up my shoulders and gives me horrible headaches. Lol, I am too young (45) for this old body! I exercise and go to physical therapy regularly and use a home tens unit and traction unit. Most of the time I cope but I have had to miss a day of work and leave early on another. Anyway, I just take it one day at a time. I know it sounds like such a cliché but it is so true.

I am praying for all of us struggling through this and wish you all a peaceful, blessed holiday season.

Hi Minn,
It is amazing that you have 5 weeks.  I seem very similar to you in age and conditions.  You are living this sobriety, and it encourages me.  I know it is so unbelievably hard.  I probably still have at least 2 months on my taper.  I am on a very powerful drug--Opana ER.  But you are doing it.  It means I can.  Great job.  Marie

Yes you can, GA! I am not going to sugar coat it because it is hard, and like others suggest, NA or AA or some kind of aftercare is important. You can do it though, and reading all of these inspirational stories on here really helps me even now. I know this is a life long battle but all I can think of is today. Good luck in your healing and God bless you. :)
