Using Darvocet to help Loratab Detox?

by Cakid, Aug 19, 2007 11:04AM
I just read an old post on using Darvocet to help with the WD. Anyone have any information?  would that be during the detox or for tappering only? How many?  we are just starting the day 2 off Loratabs.

Hi Ca.  How is your wife doing today on day 2?  I personally do not recommend that u use anything since she has already gotten herself into day 2.  The xanax for sleep is ok for a little while, but darvocet or any other opiate will just prolong the suffering.  She is in the second day, and I am sure she feels like ****.  Be there for her and keep assuring her that it will end.  It just feels like an eternity.  God blessl

I tried the Darvocet when trying to get off vicodin.  It absolutely helps by taking the edge off.  Problem is, I think you're just supplementing your problem and not ending it.  Darvocet is a mild opiate.  I can see doing this for maybe five days just to adjust from getting off the Lortab. Darvocet is a lot weaker opiate. But eventually you got to get off of all of it.  Let me guess, you aren't trying to quit voluntarily but rather ran out of Lortab and are on forced detox?  It sucks. I've been there.  Get the Clonidine and stay off everything and quit everything.  You'll have a better life for it.  I know I'm trying to get there myself.

maybe I'm figuring this wrong, she just told me she took a pill at 11:00 am yesterday when would her day 1 really start.  maybe we're not as far along as i thought.  is it 24hours from last pill or 24hrs from when it is out of your system?

I have been in in-patient detox three times.  The first two times they used the "Darvon Protocol".  I don't think they really use that anymore, but it did help some.  If I remember correctly, it went something like this:

Day 1:  1 pill 4 x day
Day 2:  1 pill, 1 pill, 2 pill, 2 pills
Day 3:  2 pills, 2 pills, 1 pill, 1 pill
Day 4:  1 pill 4 x day
Day 5:  1 pill in the morning and 1 pill at night
Day 6:  0 pills

I could be off on that, as it's been a while.  Maybe someone else will jump in here.

Good luck
