Using Valium for OXY withdrawl(withdrawal). . .

Im gonna try this again tonight. The last time I used was at about 10:30 this morning I snorted a half of an 80 mg. Oxy. Its 10:30 now and Im already going through withdrawls, I am irritable, cold one min. hot the next, cant sleep, cant eat, chills. . . I know whats coming tomorrow when I wake up. I am dreading it. But my question is what is everyones opinion of using valium, xanax, etc. to help with the symptoms of the withdrawl (withdrawal)? These of coarse are not prescribed to me. . .

My concern would be, of course that you would find the benzos "soothing", for lack of a better term, and switch addictions. This may not happen. But, you need to be very careful if you choose to do that.

One thing that will help with the withdrawal is if you stop snorting them. Aside from the obvious dangers of that, the behavior is cause for concern.

I pray that you get through this. Please post and let us know how you are doing. And, ask questions as you go along.

Take care.

If you really want to get off the Oxy, the best way to do it is to stop snorting as IBKleen said and take it orally in smaller doses than usual over a couple of weeks.  If you aren't able to do that, you may want to check into short course of Suboxone.
If you do take a benzo like Valium, Xanax you need to take it for a very short time, only to relieve symptoms.  Limit the amount you have access to and that should help.
As IBKleen said, keep posting and let us know how it's going.

you did not describe one symptom that xanax or valium would help........
The Valium might help you sleep........

If you going to quit then plan it and in those plans better be some room for some bad flu symptoms........because your going to have them......
Snorting a pain pill (which only a true addict would do) has its price would you not agree?

What would really help during the next few days would be:

Imodium (immodium) pills
Tylenol PM the blue tabs
Gator-aid

and the desire to quit is all you need unless you want to go the suboxone route......

What you have to do is not easy it will take gutz and heart but if you would believe this you will thank youself in spades but I have to warn you when you get through this W/D phase you will enter the recovery stage and that will me a mental h e l l like you can't believe........

Yes addicts pay a big price for our sins.....but it gives us another chance at life......and just maybe will appreciate it and not take it for granted and be thankful for all we have.......

I know that snorting them is a dirty habit, but where I have been doing this for so long its almost as if my nose is hooked on having powder (this sounds silly I know) however I do know that running nose is a symptom of w.d. I dont think that there is a high risk of me becoming addicted to the benzos. Opiates/opoids have always been my drug of choice actually I have experimented with a few other drugs and hated them all. Its just the oxy's that got a hold on me.

My doc has prescribed valium and xanax for me for withdrawals, but neither seemed to relieve it much. I am trying a taper now, which I hope will be the right track for me. Cold turkey was just waaaaaaay too tough for me. I'm not very strong that way, I guess.

I am from a very very small town where everyone knows everyone. Plus my husbands family is very high profile in the community. . .  I dunno. My major obstacle in getting help is the fact that my husband got in a horrible car accident last Oct. like I mentioned.  He suffered a traumatic brain injury. This was when I relapsed. And on top of that I have two small children.  I have absolutely no help. But like everyone has mentioned, Im just going to have to come up with a plan. . . besides who will be here to take care of everyone if I continue this behavior?

you should make a profile for yourself so I can message you .......
I would like to ask some personal questions but would not choose to do it so openly......
It just take a second to set up your profile.......
