Very difficult weaning off RX morphine after 6 yrs

Hello,

I am new to this forum I searched for a support group online because of the pain of my withdrawal. As I am sure many of you may know the pain associated with weaning or even stopping abruptly. Before this I was trying to cut back and quit smoking owell I will try again I have to smoke right now, I was doing well until I called 2 weeks ago to get an RX written to pick up as I have for the past 6 yrs. MS contin 30mg and MSIR 30mg both 2 times a day.

I do have a question I will get to it...but first I would like to explain what happened. The nurse called me back that day and said that my doctor lost his liscense to write because of an excessive amount of his patients are on narcotics, I spoke with a family member that is an attorney he said he heard about it that someone died, maybe abusing it I dont know.

The doctor that wrote the rx for me cut me in half and it has been the most intense pain I have ever felt. The neurologist was the 1 that suggested this med to begin with because of serious med problems. I do have a herniated cerebellum 8cm into the c-spine among many other problems.

Can anyone give any advice on ways to deal with this? I know some of the common sense 1s hopefully I can learn more. I feel like I am going to die. I dont know what to do and I am so afraid, I am afraid that this will kill me. Now every minuet seems like an hour. Has anyone ever felt like this? Well there it is...2 ?s

Thanks,
Windflower

I am so sorry this happened to you.  It is horrible and totally not your fault.  Is there another doc you could call so that u dont have to do this so quickly.  Surely, someone would be sympathetic to your situation.  It sounds like u may always need to be on pain meds, and that u take them correctly.  If the only reason you are weaning off is b/c of this doc then I would find a new doc.  If thats not correct, Im sorry, Ive been asleep and probably need to still be LOL.  Anyway, this is such a slow time here.  IF u dont get many responses, please post back in the morning.  I know there are many ppl who would love to help you .  You will be in my prayers tonight.

sincerely,
love, tracy

Thanks,

I have had problems sleeping, so thats why I am up now I am getting ready to try and get some sleep. It is unfair to me. I did a little reading about this and it is not usually done this way, it is usually done on an impatient basis at 10% .

I have an appointment on the 16th to talk with the doctor that has cut me in half. She does not know me as my doctor doesbut I hope that ny the time I leave her office she will realize more about the seriousness of this for me.

I also have a mytrovalve prolapse in my heart and the side effect of racing heart worries me. If she is not more sympathetic then I will seek another doctor. Its has been so hard but not like I thought,

I didn't know if I would be going into total detox symptoms like not knowing where I am or more jerking than Im doing among others that I am having. I am pretty upset and if I do have any permanent damage from this I plan on seeking legal council. I love my doc, i dont want to sue, he is so nice

But for now I dont plan on sueing they better be nice to me. I beleive I can do this. But I will need something, just hopefully nobofy ever offers me morphine again, unless I have ca again. I feel like I have the flu permanently. Just a whiney baby...lol

Hi,, Welcome,, Your not a baby, this is serious.  It does not sound healthy for you to go into detox.  Do you have enough pills to last you till the 16th??  If not maybe the doc can recommend someone to you that can help you,, Its on this doc, they can not get you addicted and leave you high and dry,,, You must be feeling awful,, I would start checking into this first thing in the morning,, Huggs, G

This is my first time posting so bare with me.  First of all if you plan on staying on the meds you need to call the doctor that was treating you and have them refer you immediately to another pain doctor.  If you don't plan on staying on the meds have them refer you to a detox specialist to help you with the withdrawals.  It is their responsibility to help you out and get the help you need even if he lost his prescribing license.  No one should have to go through withdrawals without help.  I do understand as you say "every minute". There is a pain specialist in your area that should be able to get you in right away with your doctor's help.  I'm not sure where you live but if you have a American and Pain Wellness Center in the area they can get you in right away. Good luck.
