Vicodin Withdrawl Question

I am going to begin detoxing cold turkey tomorrow off of vicodins.  I have done this many times, as some of you might understand.  I can always predict the symptoms that I'll have, but I have the most trouble with the nausea part of it all.  The flu-like symptoms.  I can take the sniffles, the fatigue, the aches and pains, and the crawling of the skin, but the nausea in the pit of my stomach is the hardest one for me.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do for this besides lying down and resting?  Thanks guys.  Best to everyone in here.

Ellen

I had horrible nausea, It was the worst part for me too.  What I did was use Altoids....I would use the peppermint one's and put 2-3 in a large tumbler type glass of water and sip it all day and night.  Also, spearmint Ice Breakers (mints) they helped a lot.  You can also put one in a cup of hot tea......the best !!

I wish you the best.

luv,
Nauty.............

I know candied ginger helps my stomach A LOT during withdrawal.

Also smoking a bit of weed is allso god for nausea, but I guess that depends on where you live (legal issues, etc.) Besides, you don't want to substitute one substance for another.

Sugared ginger is available on the net.

Cheers, Todd

Good deal Ellen! I personally went to GNC for mine and bought the gold card to save $$ each month...b/c WalMart didn't carry all the stuff. But I don't know what's in your area. Also, the melatonin in the GNC brand that is sublingual is awesome...way better than WalMart's.

Stick with us! You can do this...and the forum really helps!

Thank you so much for your suggestion.  I read the Amino Acid Protocol and will be shopping for these amino acids and vitimins tomorrow.

Again, Thanks!

Hi Ellen! Welcome to the forum...this is a great place for support!!! Look to the right of the screen and you will see Health Pages click there and you may want to read the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocols. I'm a firm believer in the aminos! Is there any chance your doctor could RX you some phengran (promethazine generic name). I've used that for nausea...and it's worked well but it does make you tired. There may be some natural remedies in there. I THINK...THINK I've heard peppermint and papaya are both good for tummy issues.

Keep posting! This forum is great...if you haven't seen it there is an addiction recovery tracker...among many other trackers!

Take Care,
JoAnn
