Hello I just read ur post and I wanted to know how you're doing??? How are the WD now?? I've been taking meds for 3 years off and on but I've been on norco for a while now. I've been abusing and want to stop. I was recently in the hospital with gastroparesis caused from taking too many pills. Anyways I woke up and decided I was going to taper the last of the few pills I have and I've been worried about the WD effects. But reading all this has helped. All I wanted and needed was support .  I did tell my husband and some family members because I really need the support.  So I hope ur doing well and any advice too would be appreciated...

I will be here as long as you need me :) I'm glad that some things have been able to take your mind off of things. How have you been sleeping? When I went through withdrawls sometimes I would take Tylenol PM or Benadryl (both have the same active ingredient of "diphenhydromene" in them.) But since wds can cause restless leg syndrome, I was told to take it, then take a hot bath right before bed because diphenhydromene can sometimes increase the feelings of restless leg syndrome. And this helped me sleep, and stay asleep throughout the night.

If you're 36 hours in you should be experiencing the worst of it today. And then slowly your body will begin feel like normal again. It's the psychological addiction that's harder to beat - and that my friend, is something you might be working on for the rest of your life. But just know that if you can be strong enough to beat it physically - then you can be strong enough to beat it mentally. I believe in you!

Thank u for ur time, I agree with u in the fact that the wds vary from person to person depending on the amount taken and how often. I don't know if this is good or not but I took one 7.5 every... well it was 10 a day in between 10am-4am (wake up-bed time) and I know I took one in the morning so that was always habit and later this morning I felt worse and worse till I got back to square 1. I still am clean, around 36 hours now. The rest the vs I took were sporadic if I was goin out, eating, mad, sad. So I think the reason I feel so crapy is I didn't never take the habit and my mom was comin to see me and that took my mind off it for a while but I never fully woke up and now I feel the same I hope I can sleep so I can wake up and feel good all day rather then half the day. Thank u worried mom u and everyone else help me not worry about my wds that bad and give me courage and reason to keep going plus the money ill save helps lol I hope u continue to tell me ur opinion on things I say cause u help me understand what I'm goin and have to go through thank u

To be perfectly honest, the morning always felt the worst to me! I don't know if it was just the thought of knowing I'd have to face the day without them or what, but If I woke up and laid in bed for a little bit, I definitely felt the body aches and just that overall "ill" feeling. And it either stayed, or got progressively worse throughout the day.

As far as what you'll feel, it's going to depend on every individual. How often you spaced out your doses, how much you took, how often you did things in a PATTERN, etc. What people fail to realize is that just taking the medication alone isn't what brings on wd. It's when your body forms a habit and EXPECTS to receive something, and has it's system shocked when it's gone. So even regular users who take them around the clock for chronic pain every 4-6 hours for a long time, even those who aren't "addicts will still experience wd symptoms because all of a sudden every 4-6 hours the medication isn't going into the body. You get the idea.

So if you were taking your doses sporadically, or weren't taking too much, how badly you withdrawal is all dependent upon these things. Try to stay positive and who knows - maybe you won't have it so bad. And if you do - like I said - remember it won't last forever and you WILL get through it :-)

I tried to quit 4-5 times before while drinking - didn't work - this last time seems like it will work if I stay off alcohol.

Hi. First of all, I want to say I'm sorry you're going through this. It is just NOT an easy thing, and I commend you on your bravery to want to overcome it. If tonight is your first night - I'l warn ya, usually days 2-3 are considered the "peak" of the withdrawals. In a way, the withdrawals can become mental because just "thinking" about it can almost increase your physical symptoms. Not to mention the ACTUAL in-your-face physical symptoms that can't be ignored whether you're thinking about it or not. I know Tylenol and ibuprofen are essentially nothing at this point - but it can probably help at LEAST take the edge off as you ride this out. But like you said - smoking will only make you want that high. I tried everything from smoking, taking my anti-anxiety medications, drinking etc, thinking it would take my mind off of it and satisfy my cravings - but it only brings you back to the one thing you want.

I will pray that you make it through this! Remember you always have support here from people who know what you're going through. When it begins to feel like it's too much jump on here and start a conversation! Or do whatever it is to take your mind off of it as best you can. The best part is to remind yourself that the few days you go through this are nothing compared to how many years you've been fighting this, and nothing compared to how rewarding it will feel once you've beat it. I believe you will do this and come out stronger!

Keep us updated!

I know exactly how you feel. Like poop. And tomoorow may be the same or worst. As for me I get jumpy on ky first day. It's days three thru five that I hate. By then your sick of being sick all because of that evil medicine. I didn't sleep much for the first week of two. Our bodies are amazing. Were a lot stronger tougher that we know. Everytime you get sick these four more days keep telling yourself that if you cave in again you'll feel this same way  or worst. Cause it will become harder and harder to get off and staying off. You'll make it. One down three to four more days to get off this. Remwber how the detox waa

Mod_brad Welocme to the forum, you have taken the first step to getting your life back by getting clean. Littlebit gave you some good advice on remedy you can take to get you through this. It will be a tough few days but you CAN do this. After you do you will be so happy you did.

As far as smoking marijuana I tried it when I was in w/d and it made me feel worse. As far as drinking alcohol you will definatley feel worse. Protein will help a great deal. I know you probably don't feel like eating but you can make protein shakes which helped me immensly. I will pray for you and ask God to guide you through this ordeal.Keep posting and God Bless---Rick

I was taking percocet and xanax for about 5 years. I tried quitting on my own and every time i detoxed i found myself taking them a week after. I went to a 5 day detox program and 2 weeks after i came back i was using again. Finally after i basically tried everything i decided i had to take care of this problem and checked myself into a rehab where ive been for 30 days. I just got back last week and proud to say i have 37 days sober. I am beginning to get my sleep back, it was horrible for a while i would only get a couple hours a night. but now im able to sleep pretty well. There is no way i would've been able to stay clean without being in rehab. I really underestimated the strength of this addiction. How strong of a grip it has on me. I thought it was getting over physical withdrawal and ill be fine. wow how i was wrong. I find myself with intense cravings almost paralyzing. Its to the point where im stuck thinking about it and i cant do anything else, it takes a hold of my life. It ***** to say that im still suffering. I never thought cravings could be this strong. The brain controls everything, and our brain doesnt forget the feeling of being on these drugs. For me its 1 day at a time. first you have to clear your system of the poison. It is a process. In rehab they gave me medication to taper off so my withdrawals werent so bad, but the work comes once your clean. You need to build a strong support system if you really want to stay off. The drugs are so strong. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can overcome this.

Thanks that makes me feel alot better and i never heard of imodium before so thats good to know. r u having trouble sleeping still? thats the biggest thing that i have to over come cause i need to be able to work u know, i think getting out and working does me good but i cant work if i dont sleep and my legs feel weak and ill end up shaking alot. idk i hate not sleeping cause it leads to more b.s. during the day i no i have a couple of days of b.s. but the last time i quit i never did get to sleep even at my last days of sobriety i would wake up at 3 am and not be able to sleep till 5 i would get to sleep fine cause the restless legs went away but that never did. congrats on ur 3 days i hope i can get over it that fast i take around 10 (7.5 / 325 hydro codone) is that 75 mg or 750mg in a day? is hydro codone worse then oxy codone? im sorry for all the questions i just am really nervous.

I quit about 3 months ago and was at 8-10 10's of hydro.  Not the most fun I have ever had, but this time (2 other relapses) was easier, because I got my doctor involved to help with the restless legs and insomnia.  Hope this helps!
Good you are stopping now.

I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU!  It will be over and I will feel so much better.  My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little.  It is hard, but doable!  The Thomas Recipe (bottom of the page) under Health Pages will help.  I did not to the tranquilizers and had to cut back on the Ltryosine, but the rest really helped.  Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help.  I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked.

Hydrate and eat! ((gatorade is good) Even if it is just a little every hour or so.(boost or ensure might work for both food and drink)  You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible.

If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works.  Walking seemed to help me some.  Hot bath with epsom salts..a little.  I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep.  If nothing works, your doctor might help.  Benedryl or OTC Alteril helps some with sleep issues and you will have them.

One hour at a time is all anyone can ask.  After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time!  Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill.  I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse.  I would try to eat a banana, a few grapes or a few crackers to get that under control.

The hardest part comes after the detox.  Your brain will be all over the place and will try to get you back on the pills...It is having to work and not depend on the pills to help.

Good for you.  I hope all goes well.  You have made a good start coming here....this site has helped me so much!!!  Keep posting!!!!!

Hi I would say you should start to feel better at about 3 days. I am now on my fourth day with a 240 mg oxycodone habbit and felt a bit better after 3 days. Take Imodium it will take the edge off of the wds and help your stomach. I took 2 every six hours. Hope this helps stay focused and in a few days it will be well worth it.
