Vicodin and Percocet addiction

Hi everyone!

I need help badly!  I take about 10 vics or percs a day!  I really want to stop, and though i have tried to just go out 4 hours without them, it hasnt worked.  I work 2 jobs, and i really dont want my employer to know what is going on.  is there any out patient help that i can get?  Is there any medication my Dr. can give me to ease the withdrawl??  I have tried to stop myself but i cant do it, i start getting really sick!  And i am really scared because addiction is a big problem in my family.  they are all addicted to alcohol but i of course i am addicted to pills which is just as bad!!  I dont know what to do anymore!  This is getting to expensive and my health will be at risk eventually.

lost in hell!

thats all i want is to be normal again, and its funny hearing that from someone else's mouth because people that dont do this drug dont understand what that means.

Yesterday i looked for a Dr on naabt.org and a dr already responded, so i am going to call today at lunch and see what happens.

Thanks so much again!  I will keep you posted!

hey...don't worry about sounding stupid .. you're not .. you've come to the right place for help and even just to talk to get things off your chest .. i felt a lot better after the first time coming on here ...

anyways, do you have someone who can hold onto your pills to taper some?  no which way about it, you're gonna suffer some w/d's .. even if you taper down all the way to nothing .. they will be mild but nothing like going c/t.  i would say the sub would probably help you out alot .. since you've tried to quit serveral times ... it's amazing how you feel after you take it .. they usually tell you not to take any opiates w/in 12-15 hrs of your appt, so you are in w/d's ... once they start you on the suboxone and you get to your target dosage to where you feel normal - it's like, why didn't i do this sooner .. at least this is how i felt .. my best friend is also taking them and she said the same thing .. i started out at 24mgs, which is 3 8mg tabs .. they originally started me at 16 and went thru the day and by the evening i still felt really bad - still having w/d's ... so i called and spoke w/my dr and they upped me to the 24mg .. about an hour later - i felt the best i had felt in years ... u don't get high from them, you just feel normal .. get up out of bed w/out having to take a handful of vics to just get me going then another handful around lunch time and more in the evening .. i wz taking 5 of them usually 3 times a day .. and sometimes that wasn't even enough ... then i started doin oxy's ... i only did them for a month and then i wz like, i can't take this anymore .. just can't do it ... i can't be a mom and do this to my kids....i didn't want them to grow up w/out a mommy and i knew rehab wz outta the question - c/t ..been there done that ... so, the sub gave me my life back .. thats sounds corny but it did ... anyways, you have anymore questions, please do not hesitate to ask ... have a good one!!! peace~

Wow!  you guys are quick!  Thanks so much!  I go through 35 vics per week for sure!  and maybe like 10-15 percs per week, depending on what i feel like take that day.  I've been doing this for about 3 years now, and I just have to stop before it gets worse.  I am an extremist, so i do everything to the fullest extent, so i am hoping with a little help i can stop to the fullest extent!  I am going to read up on everything you guys sent me.  How could i cut down in the meantime without have cold sweats, getting nauseous and all that other bull that comes with withdrawl??  at least until i can get my hands on that medication.  I know it sounds silly to replace a drug with another drug, but at this point there is no way i can stop now, i think that time passed like 3 years ago!  Plus i am 29 and i want to have kids in the next couple of years and that is all i need is to need drugs while i am pregnant.

Thank you so much!  I will be back to ask you guys questions, sorry if i sound stupid but i am so lost!

Also, go to this website: www.turntohelp.com and see if there is an office near you. If not, go to www.suboxone.com and read what it can do for you. If you can possibly get on the subs, I highly recommend it! There are only certain doctors that can prescribe it though, you'll have to find one near you if there are any.

hi there ... have you tried to taper off the pills?  the answer to your question abuot are there any drugs to help ease w/d's...yes, there is suboxone .. not sure if you've heard of it .. how long have you been taking vics for?  you can ck out more info about suboxone on these websites ..www.suboxone.com or www.naabt.org.  You will have to put in your zip code to find a dr near you who can prescribe it .. not all drs can .. it can be costly.  MOst insurances don't cover the actual dr visits, but if you have rx covg, thats great ... the pills themselves i believe can run anywhere from $5-6 per pill ... i started taking suboxone in april .. it works great for the w/d's and the cravings ... make sure you're honest w/the dr on how many you take and for long .. it doesn't matter if you have a script for them or not, the fact is you're an addict.  There are alot of ppl on here who are also on suboxone .. some are on it long term, others short term .. it just all depends on you and what you thinks is best for your situation .. you can also get addicted to suboxone, but the w/d's are nothing like coming off vics, percs, oxy's, etc ... anyways, if you have any other questions, pls let me know ...

if you have someone you can give your pills to, there are others on here who can help you w/a taper plan .. much easier to have someone give them to you as the plan states .. i know i wz never strong enough to hold onto them .. have 10 of em, eat 10 of em that day ... lol ... anyways - usually during the day there really isn't too much going on here .. but i'm sure others will answer your questions later this evening ... peace!

There's plenty of choices and options. Start off by clicking on the blue Ga Guy link to the left of this post and read my profile page. Lots of information there. If you have additional questions, please ask. Also, google suboxone and read what you can on it. It may be a option as well.
