Vicodin vs Percocet

If a person was to go from Vicodin to Percocet would they go through withdrawl from the Vicodin? I know they are somewhat alike but different too? I am just curious because in the past when I ran out of the Vicodin I was able to get Percocets. They helped a little better with the pain but I do recall having bowel problems and feeling like I had a mild flu. Was this a little bit of a preview of what my withdrawl is going to be like but worse? Make sense?

Wow my boyfriend keeps telling me the same thing. He says I am so obsessed with the WD that I am going to make it worse than it is. Guess he is right. Thank you!

Carol~  No,you wouldn't have had any kind of withdrawal going to Percocet from Vicodin. Whatever occured was unrelated. Percocet is stronger than Vicodin.

Try not to over think this. It will be what it is...it won't be the worst thing you'll go through. Just not pleasant. It's truly like having the flu...

Thank you for the response. I am not going to use the percocet again, my planned stop date is in 2 weeks on the 22nd. I am doing a taper right now. I was just wondering about the feelings I had when I ran out and used the percocets. Was that a type of withdrawl?

It only makes sense if you want to stay in active addiction.. easier too just stop then you do not up your anti in tolerance. all opiates bind the bowel's the more you take the stronger the drug the worse it is. If you did not take equal to what you were taking prior then you were in light wd more then likely. just think if you quit you would not have these worries. take care of yourself ok.. lesa

the percocet are stronger, more addictive and result in worse withdrawals. the difference is vicodin are hydrocodone and percocet are oxycodone... same stuff as in the 'oxy's' that you probably have heard about... only difference is the strength. One thing you need to realize is that each time you use the stronger stuff to get you thru till you get your doc which is the weaker of the two you are moving your tolerance along so that you need more of it to get to your level. eventually the hydros wont do it anymore and then you move on to the stronger stuff. the more often you replace with the oxycodone the faster you speed your tolerance up.... get off them now because it will NEVER be easier to kick this than right now.
