Vicuprofen question

I just received vicuprofen 7.5/200 for the first time.  Previous to this, I was taking norco 10/325.  I am aware that the maximum daily dosage of acetamenophine is 4000 mgs in a 24 hour period.  My questions are these: what is the maximum daily dosage of ibuprofen?  Is it similar to Acetamenophine in its' potential to damage your liver?  Or does it do harm to some other organ?  How does it compare to acetamenophine (i.e.- which is worse)?

Careful though,, it may not wreck your liver but it can cause stomach issues..

1200 mg is considered the maximum daily dose for over-the-counter use, though under medical direction, a maximum daily dose of 3200 mg may sometimes be used in increments of 600--800 mg.

you can safely take up to 2400mg daily before you begin to risk damage to your kidneys.  They recommend not exceeding that amount unless you are only taking it for a very short time.  Drinking a lot of fluids will help to keep your kidneys healthy while you are taking the Ibuprofen.  Vicoprofen typically has 200mg Ibprofen in it so you could take up to 12 per day although that is a lot of the Hydrocodone.

Hello there - here in australia it is also recommended 6 per 24 hours, ie 1200mgs, so I would guess that that is the conservative safety level. I would also guess that what your body can handle safely is to some extent individual, and as someone said, take with food.

Me, I take up to 7200mg per day due to codeine addiction, and it wasnt until I was in the 4000 per day range that stomach problems started. And the only thing I am saying by that is that probably if your doc said 1600 is ok, especially if spread out over the 24 hours, its probably ok. Ibuprofen has a shorter half life (I think 2 - 3 hours) than acetomiphen, so gets cleared from your body faster. But definitely eat, taking them on empty stomach is horrible.

Thanks guys.  I'm not asking for some shady reason- I'm asking because on the bottle of regular ibuprofen it says "take no more than 6 per day (i.e.- 1200 mgs), yet my doctor said I could "take 2 at a time, if needed, every 4 hours (i.e.- 1600 mgs per day).  Therefore, I don't know what's right, and what's dangerous- as opposed to acetomenophine, which everyone and their mother knows is a max of 4000 mgs a day.  Come to think of it, my ibuprofen question is related to precisely that: on a normal bottle of acetomenophine it says "take no more than 8 (500 mg each) tablets a day," while on the ibuprofen bottle, it says "take no more than 6 (1200 mgs) per day.  So am I to believe that the acetomeaphine warnings are correct but that the ibuprofen ones are meaningless?  THAT'S why I'm asking!

I was taking 20 + motrin per day and none of the docs even blinked an eye.  

I don't know your story behind your need for meds but are these absolutely necessary and why do you need to take over and above what is prescribed?    If the prescribed amount isn't helping your pain than you need to tell your doc.  Or if you're taking more because of addiction issues then we would all encourage you to get help.  Of course, if you're not at that point yet I understand and am not here to judge.

My dr told me 800mgs 3 times a day = 2400mgs. I take it everyday, carefull with your tummy,they can cause ulcers, so drink lots of water and take with food.

Oh...now thats a heck of alot of help.  You know as well as I do that THAT is NOT  the total answer.  You sound like an AA person.

Not anything like acetamenophine, nor the damage it can cause your liver.  The most plain Ibuprophen Ive ever taken was an RX for 800 mgs every 6 hrs.

dont know if that helps...but Ive found that the Ibuprophen combo works much better than tylenol.

would you take a tylenol for a bad sprain...or Motrin??

how about getting clean not using any narcotics...............
