Video about suboxone (from the suboxone site)

Below is a link to a video provided by the suboxone site.

http://www.suboxone.com/patients/resources/patient_stories_lauren.aspx

It did, and is helping me, however, the story is not over so we shall see.  FLaddict brought me back into perspective by giving me a clue about the fact that the doctors doses are usually prescribed too high. If you do get on,,, do the least possible to get normal.  I do believe these are real people because it does exactly as they are saying that it does.

Again, I'm not a suboxone salesman.  Please do the research Fladdict did.  AND I suggest not using it unless, you're like me, and you have to.

I just want to add that it may seem like a "quick fix' or a miracle for WD symptoms.. but do your research.. Long term use produces methodone like WD that lasts weeks. Even I who was on it for 10 days at a low dose have been off for 3 days and I am still having sweats/chills and restlessness.. and I tapered down to a fleck of a pill. I am feeling about 85%...

I just watched the video. It really gives me a lot of hope. I am so sick of being an addict. Even if I am in pain with my back, there has got to be a better way to treat it than with pain killers. I can't wait to start treatment. I hope it works as well as the video says it does.

I can't tell how discouraging all this is to me. I have been on 3two mgs of Sub. for a few months untill I started to read some of Fladdicts posts about the affects of suoxone. I have quickly tapered down to twenty mgs over the last couple of weeks. I am experiencing w/d's but feel my body will adjust. I don't know what or when my next taper will be. I've been at twenty for 4-5 days now and have tried to go lower but am just too uncomfortable. Maybe i'm dropping too much at one time. Please anyone that is considering Suboxone do your research, the Dr's don't know the true effects of this drug. My Dr. told me that he would be able to wean me off without me feeling a thing after a long maintenance of it. He just believed what the drug company told him I guess. I will be seeing him this week and tell him what I have learned. I really wish I had just not used anything, I was on such a high dos of meds that I felt the full effects of w/d anyway, now I get to go through it twice. How discouraging.

To be honest... since it is so new and docs are still finding out about it.. I wouldnt' do it.. not in your situation.. I feel bad saying it cause i know i don't have a better alternative for you. And i know you are in pain. Gypseygirl is a good one to talk to about this because she has severe pain too and wishes she had not gone on it..
The US drug co are so screwed up.. they took a drug that was being used in EU in detoxes or as a out patient  EVERY OTHER DAY or EVERY THREE DAY DOSING.. and used it to make money.. Docs who are certified are only required to do a 8 hour course on this... guess who runs the class?? the makers of Suboxone... not the docs who used it in clinical trials...not the FDA. I highly discourage people from using for more than 21 days tops.. less is better based on what I have read.. And these high doses you hear about people taking are not neccesary.. high doses don't make you better which is what the docs want you to think.. it only makes the blocking affect work better. the more you take the more naloxone there is in your body.. so you can't abuse or take breaks from your sub.. at lower doses the naloxone is barely absorbed by the body. like 0.2% or something like that... so they encourage patients to take higher doses.. that they then find out they can't get off of or even taper down..sorry i ranted... I am not feeling well and I am frustrated..

This is a experience of some one in chronic pain who used Sub.  They used the IM version of Buprenorphine...

Well, I guess I should qualify too....

I was on Buperenex for chronic pain. Self Injected 2 or 4 times a day. This was after a long time on opiates.. Morphine then Oxy's Then I made the switch to Bupe.

Tapered some and tried to quit in November. Did not go well. Tapered more then switched back to morphine tapered and quit.

My 2 years on bupe were a love hate affair. I had side effects which made my stay here uncomfortable at times. Other times it worked well for me. After a year and a half I began to have a yucky time on it, but could not quit.

I realize that less is more with bupe, and at times it can build up and you may need to skip a dose to bring your blood level back in line.

Higher doses yield little to no benefit, yet cause higher dependence on the bupe. The more I took the more I HAD to take. When I cut back down I felt much better.. got a better effect and needed it less.

Bupe will develop a tolerance and dependence, but keeping your dose low will prevent it from getting out of hand and you will feel a lot better. Less bupe = MORE effect, less tolerance, and less dependence.

I'm so sorry you don't fell well! I'm glad you ranted. I need to hear this stuff from people. REAL people like you. Not drug companies or my doctor. I was really hopeful about this subox but if it weren't for people like you who tell the truth I'm sure I would have been in a world of trouble. I have to figure out something else to do now but I'm so glad to know the truth. Thanks! Ggin35

If the doctor gives you too high of a dosage, can you break it in half or take a lesser dosage?

I will make it... I can't imagine how I would feel if I stayed on this stuff a long time... I spoke to Beachtowel on IM earlier and he was surprised at first that I had chills/sweats  he said it probably the "poison" of Sub coming out of me. I am pushing fluids and hope to shake this off by tommorrow night. The part of my body touching the bed is soaked and the top of me is freezing.. I have that "detox" smell too...sucks but I will make it...

That is what I did.. the doc told me to take 4mgs when i got home.. wait 30mins take another 4mgs. then do the same thing 6 hours later.  I went home took 2mgs waited 2 hours took another 2mgs and then waited 8 hours to take another 2mgs.. I started tapering off the 3rd day..the half life is 37 hours so it builds up in your system.(hence the europeans doing every other day dosing) I didn't feel a thing til a few days ago and that was nothing...
