Hi Lea... not to be a know it all but reading your comment to medhelp makes me think of all the other comments directed to the doctor here and similar concerns.

After a year on the board,here's what I've figured out.. it's not likely that medhelp will see your post because there is not a live webmaster here monitoring the forum like there are other forums.  If there's a problem you have to contact them by e-mail. Medhelp is a foundation, an organization, and this is their board as well as many other medical topic boards. Cindy and Phil are the founders of the organization medhelp. If you contact them by e-mail they will reply.

The only way to get your questioned answered by the doctor is to have it posted as a question.. and then you have to wait a few weeks at least. Dr.Steve is someone who is an expert but only provides his replies to this board as a service... he has a practice and so on and works elsewhere. I think he also has a site on the web of his own. Lots of times people wonder why he has deleted threads and so on... I do not think he does that. I seriously doubt if he comes here to read very much let alone makes decisions about what stays on the board etc... He seems to have little time. I personally feel that the information provided by the participants is the best information... however, the site exists as a medical help board so a doctor does eventually reply on all the boards... don't hold your breath...His replies are so short and not very in depth so I know most people realize that they need to see a doctor on their own.. not one on the net.

I think medhelp deletes the threads...but I have no idea by whom nor do I have any idea what the criteria... I inquired once and all I learned is it was due to space. It does seem that some threads stay around longer than others and it does appear that some topics are not well received.... this is only my opinion and observation. Since the business of space came up they have the added feature now of condensing posts in a thread... you notice the top line of a long thread says (comments from date to date)... it used to be they just deleted them. Anyway, the doctor does not run the board and does not do the deleting from what I have observed.

Someone just asked about archives. Once a thread is not on the board any longer the only parts of it that are archived are the question and the reply from the doctor.

It's very hard to post a question.. try the wee hours or get up at 5 am.. that is the only time I was ever lucky to get a question on here. No matter how many times you post a question in a thread the doc will never reply... you will get lots of help from other people though.

not only that, but I, a comlete non-medical professional, could have easily given the answers Dr Steve has given to the lucky ones who get up in the middle of the night to post a question. There usn't a single bit of advice I couldn't have given the posters myself. It's a complete waste of time to have Dr Steve on the forum. Anyone with any brains or experience at all could parrot his answers 90% of the time. I say, don't read DrBb's responses anymore. Let's make the point that it doesn't take a doctor to offer the impersonal, generic, frankly disinterested advice he offers. At least find different med experts and let them rotate duties. Thank you Brighty...I was very upset myself. I do not take these things very lightly under any circumstances. I would rather be wrong and fooled then to do nothing. Kudos to you on your May 19th post........I was laughing my ass off! It is soooo true re: Dr.( and I use that term loosely)Steve's responses. I know he has like a list of generic responses that he just copies and pastes under the questions. I learned more from just the "real" people on here, than anything.

Yeah! re: letters for donations!  Kind of freaked me out.  I have no problem believing that it costs a lot to run this board- but I was freaked out and thought of leaving - this being an addiction board -and- I was in fear of my real identity being given out.  Anyone else think of that?

I've been reading this board now for a couple of years and I am always struck by everyone's reaction to a sudden outburst by someone or another.  If we can all manage to remember this-

We are all here because we have something in common! Weather we post here often or just come to ask a question or gather information by reading past messages, we all have DRUGS in common! That makes each and every one of us vulnerable to lash out sometimes. It's safe to do it here - and better here than at a child or spouse, friend or family member.  

I love all of you and hate the thought of one random poster driving a valued member away.  You have all helped me more than you will ever know.  

I can't talk about my addiction with the abandon and freedom that I can here!  That may be the case for many of us.

You may all flame me now for my Pollyanna lah-ti-da attitude (lol).  Just think about it.  It's not the first - or the last time someone is going to come in here and rock the boat.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!! :-) Heck no you ain't ever been a witch!! Na, I was just using figures of speech. The Wizard of Oz had the wicked witch....hence the antagonist in the story......and Glenda was the Good witch in the story..protaginist I think. My english classes weren't to good. I just meant there has been some negatives and a LOT of POSITIVES here on the forum lately.
And, since I'm the Wiz it just seemed appropriate to use those examples. And I LOVE the munchkins to death don't ya know. Although if I had a chance to be in the movie with Judy Garland, I would definantly have wanted to be one of the flying monkey's!!!LOL I always love the highs! There are tons of posts above re: tapering...It may help you alot to start at the top and read all the posts....are you taking oxy's etc for pain?  my e-mail is ***@**** or ***@****  private e-mails are ok but this forum and all these people are so wonderful you could get alot of good solid advice from everyone instead of just one person....listen to what everyone has to say....I just can't say enough about these people...and they care...that is what's nice  we all care....hang in there and keep coming back,,,,,love to all cin
