If you were taking 15-20 pills everyday you need to taper off of them, Im not sure if thats what you've been doing but suddenly quitting a habit like that can cause seizures not to mention some harsh withdrawal symptoms. Hopefully someone will come one here with some sort of idea of what kind of tapering plan works best, you need to talk to your doctor about slowly tapering you off in order to be safe. Again you need to taper down to a lower dose before you can quit, its not like regular opiates where you can basicly quit anytime you want as long as you can stand it, and theres very little risk of any life threatening complications. Talk with your prescribing doctor, come up with a plan, be safe, best wishes to you, take care.

I am unfamiliar with Ultram... i assume its a painkiller? what symptoms are you experiencing? consider acquiring a anti-anxiety med, like valium, klonopin or xanax. ive just recently had success w/ taking l-tyramine and b12 for energy, and melatonin to help me sleep.. i also take half a 1mg xanax twice a day to take some of the edge/anxiety away..... im going thru suboxone withdraw which is probably similar to what you feel.. maybe not maybe so...

check out the thomas recipe. click on the HEALTH PAGES button on top right of site.

sorry i couldnt be much help, im new to this too. and i promise ya some more people will reply to this topic and help you out more :)

Have you tried cutting back 1 pill a day, or every other day? and see how that works?

go to the Ultram forum here, it is strictly for ultram users. Its amazing, trust me it's gonna be hell like it is now for atleast the first five days. You need caffeine a.s.a.p. to get you going and replace what ultram did for you. I am shocked to see that you were taking that many pills. If any of your symptoms worsen, and I mean, you feel like you might die, go to the ER, but otherwise it is going to suck bad. I'm going through it right now too. Your not alone. Click on forums at the top and then look at the recent comments on the right hand side of your screen, you'll see some comments on ultram, thats the group you need to be in. Good Luck.

I'm new here too, and in day 4 of tram.w/d, I think Ultram is the same as Tramadol.  If so, you are taking A LOT, and due to the risk of possible seizure you probably should do some type of a taper off process. But from what I have heard there is just as much risk for seizure while taking it.I never took more than a total of the recommended dose on my bottle which was 100 mg 3 x day, and on it for about 6 months.  I've taken every kind of pain killer you think of in my 48 years and never addicted to any.  Tramadol has become my worst nightmare, the w/d for me anyway, has been incredibly intense, today is my first day of feeling physically much better and thinking that I can make it thru this. But you have to get started somewhere and start counting the hours, then days that you have made yourself better. I have not wanted to replace this terrible drug with another so I used Valarian root (herb) to help with some of the anxiety/stress of it. I can't tell you it's a big help, it's a very tiny help, but it's something. I also drank enormous amounts of water to try to flush as much of it out of my system as possible(I hate water!) But Tram. does leave the body thru the bladder, that's about the only thing I know about this w/d.  I wish I could be of more help but stay on this site, everyone here is so helpful.  When you get into the real hell of it, keep your phone very close by in case you need to call 911.  Just in case. The first few days are the worst. Good Luck!

it amazes me that in many states this is not even a controlled substance. not that it would matter anyway...but at the very least it would give a heads up that it can be addicting. most people don't even realize you can get addicted to it when they start taking it. anyway...that really is a high dosage to simply stop taking. did you talk to your doctor before starting this? maybe they could recommend something non-addicting for the pain. best of luck to you.

You are so right! Now that I'm past the laying in my own vomit, I want to fight back!  I was perscribed this by MD, and never even took as much as what was perscribed because I found it to be a crappy pain killer.  Thought I had the flu when I quit, that's how stupid I was. I even told my Dr. 3 times to never give me anything addictive and I was assured it was not.  I was given a script ....get this...for 999 refills of 180 pills each refill.
There are still 994 refills left on the script. I took the pills to the Dr.s office wanting them to have to dispose of them properly, they couldn't, took them to CVS, they told me to FLUSH them down the drain into my septic tank..no way! Or the trash so they can be put into the landfill and the ground water. I am an environmentalist, this really annoys me.  Do you or anyone know how to dispose of these toxins in a safe way?  My next fight....FDA!  They need to have warnings on this drug!  Has anyone sued the perscribing doctor that put them on this terrible drug???? I'm considering it, the perscribing doctor office appears to be quite concerned now that I might. Any thoughts or advise?
thanks and best wishes to everyone.  You are all strong people, otherwise you would not be on this web site.  Reeny924
