Want to quit methadone

   I started taking methadone about 2 months ago to get off of Oxy. I am currently on 75 mg of methadone and am considering quitting cold turkey. My question is, if I do this am I going to have withdrawals? If so how long will they last? Thanks for any and all help.

have you been attending counseling or support groups?
methadone is only supposed to be part of a recovery program.
how long were you using  oxys and at what dose?
did you start at 75mgs of methadone and have maintained there?

Why are you going cold turkey instead of tapering? You will surely have withdrawl but it may not be too bad because you were on it such a short time. My concern is that will jump and if you have withdrawal you will go back to the pills. In other words I fear that you will trade one for another. I don't advocate Methadone. It's a horrible drug. But if you decide to go on it then take the time to heal yourself. Just putting the drugs down isn't enough. I don't think anyone can possibly tell you how strong and how long the process will take. Everyone is different. I hope you decide to taper instead of jumping. Let us know. We are here to support you.
