Weaning off Kadian "Morphine"

I have been going to a pain clinic for about 4-5 years and have been on Kadian 60mg for 2 years. I was ill and in the hospital in Nov. in a coma and a week after coming home I was found having a seziure with 104 fever, pneumonia. Since I have been home I have weaned off Oxycodone, Gabapentin, and all other meds for pain except the 60mg Kadian. I have had nausea and vomiting every day since I have been home. We split the Kadian to 30/30mg and I am still sick. I am hoping it is the Kadian that is making me sick. Even though I have taken it for a long time with no side effects I can't think what else it could be. I take antinausea meds every day for it. I want to stop taking 30mg and replace it with my oxycodone 10mg as needed. I do not go back to the clinic for 3 weeks and I am trying to get back on my feet. I have been sick since Nov. and it makes for a lousy life! I am putting up with the pain due to the fact the Morphine is not doing much to lessen it. Has anyone had n/v from Morphine? Thank you for any advice.

Pat, thank you for your response. I am down to 30 mg once a day now and will be off it on the 20th of this month. Of course they will put me on some other drug, hoping it will help my pain and not make me sick.

Yes a lot of people don't tolerate morphine well.  My mother was given it in the hospital after knee surgery and it made her extremely ill.
Pain medications can be very hard on your stomach.
Hope you feel better soon.
