ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
Well that sure was strange

Well that sure was strange

I've been oxy free for about 6 months now, I quit back in February and never looked back. My withdrawal symptoms were very minor so I thanked my lucky stars and moved on.

Last night though I woke up in the middle of the night with a bad case of the restless legs and an intense craving to pop one. It would have been easy enough to do so as my wife has a prescription for them but there was simply no way I was going to.

My question though is has anyone else ever experienced this? Some kind of withdrawal flashback or something? I'm assuming that all the opiates were out of my system long ago, why would this be happening now?

I read about this earlier. Its called paws post acute withdrawal syndrome. I don't know much about it but you should do a search and read up on it. Peace

Did you by chance take any kind of medicine the night before?  Simple things like OTC sleep aids, antihistamines (like Benadryl), and any kind of muscle relaxer can be triggers for RLS in a LOT of people.  I can speak on this first hand, unfortunately.  I have to stear clear of ALL these meds or I'll have a really wild ride.

Or caffeine maybe?

In all my experiances any thing like caffien, benadryl,or any thing that will rob your body of fluids will cause RLS....keep hydrated and drink a glass of water before you go to bed.

Caffeine yes, a ton of it but I do that everyday. No other medication though. I know that the caffeine can literally dry me out so I do drink a lot of water, maybe I just didn't drink enough of it the other night.

Last night was fine, no recurrences so for now I'll write it off as a one time thing. Hopefully that's the case although it'd be just like me to get smacked by withdrawals 6 months after the fact.

Thanks to all for the replies!
