Well...I did it! Yay me....

Finally broke down and took myself and the family to the doctor today. Couldn't go any longer. We all have the flu and acute bronchitis. And yep...I turned down the cough syrup w/codeine and told him just to give me the antibiotics I needed and that I'd stick with Delsym! Kinda sorta proud of myself :)

That was a big achievement, turning down the meds.

When trying the get clean we have to look at even the miniscule changes as great victories. Why? Because they are.

While I am tapering down I note in my taper diary that by this time into a new refill I would have downed xx number of pills, but I have not, so that's something to me.

And a few times I put two 10mg Vikes in my mouth, the removed one and put it away.

Tapering is a small steps process. One BIG step in the mix is not taking pills that you know are in a bottle in a cabinet.

Turning down meds offered is  BIG DEAL

Blah....lol. 2:00 am and wide eyed and bushy tailed. Kinda darned if you do, darned if you don't. NyQuil and other nighttime cough aids have always affected me backwards...makes me bounce off walls...and so does the Mucinex, but I have to take it just to get this stuff loosened up in my chest, head and sinuses. If I don't, I'm awake coughing anyway...so I guess if I have to be awake coughing, it's gonna be a productive cough. I hope to see a nap in my future. :) lol.

Thanks guys! I'm hoping this Z-pack kicks in soon. We have never all been sick at the same time...my boy came down with it today and I had to pick him up at school and that's when I thought "enough is enough"!! I knew I had to face it or I wouldn't get better...I can't have both kids and the husband sick because I'm afraid I can't say no! Using the inhaler and lots of ibuprofen so I'm guessing we will all get better soon. Wish us luck!! :)

That's so great. I had a similar situation happen today and it felt soooo good to walk away from those pills without one thought to take them...very empowering. Congrats on your conviction to stay clean!
