What Am I Doing Wrong?

What Am I Doing Wrong?

Two weeks now off oxy and vic, was taking 2 20 mg oxycontin and 4 10 mg vicodin,, sometimes exceeded my dosage but only for extra energy when I needed to complete extra tasks.  I followed the Thomas recipe and most of my physical symptoms are gone with the exception of fatigue.  Still, I am having ongoing panic attacks, irritability, sleeplessness, and crying jags.

Will this end?  When?  I can't take much more, nor can my family.

Your not doing anything wrong. Oxy is an extremely strong opiate. Anyone that tells you 5-7 days, is wrong. The worst is over in 5-7 days. But everyone is different. For me, my w.d lasted almost 2 Months. But I was also taking about 1600mgs of Oxy. 15-20 80's a day. I was bad. SO it all depends. But two weeks, with some minor symptoms, with your dose, sounds about right. Stick with it, it WILL get better, I PROMISE. You are certainly out of the woods as far as the bad w.d, not its just minor stuff here and there. Please just don't give up.

i promise it will get better, time frames are different for everyone...depends on how long you used and different variables.  consider 2 weeks clean is not very long (although to you it seems like a lifetime)lol, your body and brain have to readjust to this new lifestyle. try not to be too impatient it only adds to the anxiety.  are you taking supplements and vitamins?  those help some too.  good luck and above all else hang in there.

liscam is right,,oxys are diff then hydros. The hydros clear your system in 72 hours but the oxy is time release. I gotta agree with liscams timeline but it WILL end soon,,youve come a long way ,,congrats

Hang in there. The end is in sight. It takes a bit of time but it is worth it.
Stay strong

Thanks for the help and encouragement.  I'm having a panic attack right now as I type and had another earlier so finally called the psychiaatrist and have an appointment tomorrow afternoon.  I'm not sure what to expect from him but I can't keep freaking out like this or I'll end up with a valium addiction rather than an opiate one.

no.. you won't.  honestly, day 11 was the WORST for me... it lets up very soon.

you are doing nothing wrong!!!

i promise you it will pass - and again, very soon.  hun, just know it's par for the course.. which i know doesn't make it any easier in the moment, but it helps (i hope) to know that so many of us went through the very same thing, at the time frame you are, but that soon - very soon - it gets better.

please hold on to that.. it's normal, and IT WILL LIFT SOON...

very warmly,
mj

as an extreme oxy abuser i can honestly say it took weeks to feel back to normal. it is a times release substance and even if crushed snorted or chewed it retains that compound. it will take longer for this med to leave your system so do not go off of people that are detoxing off vics percs, etc. it is much more powerful as you know and it will take a bit longer.

Congratulations on 2 weeks!   Please don't get discouraged.   While I've never tried an oxy, I used 10-12 vicodin es's for about 5 years straight.   I'm on my 25th day c/t, and still feeling withdrawal symptoms -- less severe but still nervousness, muscle and bone aches, etc.   Not to mention the cravings.

I think when people say 4 - 5 days, they mean the absolute worst symptoms.   Meaning you are so ill, you literally can't do anything.   After 5 days, I was able to be up and around - go to work, grocery shopping, etc.    But that didn't mean I  felt anything like good.   2 weeks is still too soon to be out of the woods.

In my past attempts, I took the 4-5 days literally, and got so discouraged after a week that I just went back to using.    Remember that you've already been thru the worst, and keep in mind that each detox seems to get harder.

COngrats on the 2 weeks!!! Good job, it seems for the first 4-5 days seem impossible, but you made it through those. Just hang on and i promise it will get better. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me and just now am i starting to get my energy back and have less anxiety. I am still tired, but everyday gets better and better. Just take things one day at a time. You came to far now to do something. My heart goes out to you, and i hope things get better soon. I think you should be feeling better real soon, you weren't on a real high dossage like some of us on here and we made it through. Just knowing that other people did it makes you think that you can. Tell yourself you can do it. Good Luck and keep us updated
