What Now?

I screwed up and took a darvocet for a killer headache. I'm not really sorry either. I couldn't stand that pain any longer. I don't know how to feel about this.

Yes it did help with the headache. It was one that started in my cervical spine and radiated up and out across the back of my head until my whole head was engaged. I tried everything in my arsenal before resorting to the darvocet. TENS unit, ETPS             ( electrical trigger point stimulation, which usually works wonders ), self massage, neurontin, ibuprofen,etc...Nothing was helping and I waited for hours before taking the darvocet.
The darvocet made me sick to my stomach just like all opiates do to me. And I hate the spacey feeling it causes. I know some people like that euphoria, but it makes me really uneasy.
I'm bummed about not being able to control the pain. I'm a very strong and disciplined person and I'm feeling so bad that I resorted to that strong of a pain med. These headaches usually come in waves and I'm hoping another one doesn't start.

It is sometimes called a synthetic opiate but it operates a little differently. It is known to cause headaches in some users.

I dont agree that its not an opeate as far as I know its a weak one. I have never heard it used for headaches either. Did it work?

Don't beat yourself up for a moment of desperation. Killer headaches are awful. Throw away the darvocets. They are not really an opiate and they don't really help with headaches.

I agree with avisg :) I also was wondering the same thing about my surgery and was asked those same questions by sara (thank you) I'm clean :) as long as you are not abusing and only 1 you should not suffer.. although I would hand them over to someone you trust a lil insurance policy I took out with hubby :) I wish you well and hope the headache had eased.. lesa

Ahhh its a hard one you will probably get more then one opinion .you should not have to suffer .Did you try other things before the darvocet ? I have had to take pain meds for having my gallbladder out and a kidney stone I as well had mixed feeling was I clean anymore ? Then somebody asked me did I take the meds the way the doctor told you too ? which I did . Did you stop as soon as you could handle the pain without which I did.Just because we are addicts does not mean we are never going to have to take pain meds again it would be nice to think but unrealistic.I think you are fine no harm done

I think thats is why we need to flush them.  If I had one right now, I would probably take it also.

Don't beat yourself up, but get of the rest if you can  ( I never was good at flushing)
