What are the effects of injecting Valium?

Hi,

Will I become unconscious right away if I inject 40 mg of Valium? I am a recovering heroin addict, and am slowly weaning off my previous addiction by currently substituting Valium orally, but currently this is not sufficing my cravings. Please let me know if it will knock me unconscious, and if it instantly makes me unconscious or does it take awhile. I would still like to go about my day, and not sleep through it.

I hope so too.  Injecting Valium is a terrible idea. You will fall asleep in minutes or less. If you're lucky, you will wake up. Maybe. Please don't do it! Let us help you!

Sounds horribly dangerous to me.  Valium isn't used as a substitute for heroin or any other opiate.  It might calm you down some and maybe help you sleep but that's it. It's also addicting and hard to get off of.  You don't want to just substitute one addiction for another.

As the above poster said the ritual of preparing and injecting etc. is often part of the addiction.  You're feeling the need to inject because your brain associates that with the heroin.

Is the valium prescribed? Or are you buying it from the streets?

Many times the needle is as much of an addiction as is the drug.
You need to get rid of all your needles.

Are you attending  counseling, support groups, church? To help prevent
Relapse. You need to stay away from the people, places and things associated with your use.

There is freedom from the chains and bondage of addiction.
Keep the faith.

Recovery takes work. It will take time to heal
Mentally, spiritually and physically.
