I've been on oxicontin for 6 months, it thought i could stop cold turkey as i did with the vicodine and cigarettes in the past .........OH MY GOD WAS I WRONG!!!! THIS IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ANIMAL !!!!! I'M STARTING TOMORROW WITH WHAT MY DOCTOR HAS DESCRIBED "THE TRICK".........he's instructed me to tapper from 40mg to 30 mg twice a day and prescribed valium and ------> clonidine (its a med for high blood presure) .10 mg twice a day same for the valium ( but as needed)for 2 weeks then tapper down again (to i dont know what but i'll find out when i see him in 2 weeks) I SHOULD MENTION THAT THE PURE DEMONIC WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS WERE AS FOLLOWS: cold sweats, diarrea, racing heart beat AND gagging - almost throwing up - due to what i describe as a slimmey feeling in my mouth and throat. I TRIED COLD TURKEY FOR 30 HOURS AND COULD NOT DO IT!!!! I TOOK ONE 40MG AT HOUR 31 AND IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO FEEL BETTER........ I'M PRAYING THAT THIS "TRICK" WORKS. I HAVE A BULDGING DISC IN MY NECK AND TENNIS ELBOW IN BOTH ARMS, AND AT THIS POINT i'M WELCOMING THE PAIN WITHOUT ANY PILLS RATHER THAN DEAL WITH THESE HELLLLLLLLISH WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS.........! I began taking vicodine 5/500 then 7.5/325mg which didnt work EFFECTIVELY, concerned that the 500 and 325mg part of the hydrocodine would damage my liver, we decided to step up to a pure pain reliever. BIG MISTAKE....... I'M HOPING THAT I CLOSE THE BOOK ON OXICONTIN..................... THEN BURN IT!
Hey, I just went through the tapering down and quitting process following 3 months of use for back surgery. For me the worst symptom throughout the process was depression. Upon "quitting" completely I also suffered from restless leg syndrome (and arms), and, of course, difficulty sleeping. And I ate like a horse. I seemed that a full stomach made the cravings less. (weird?)
This is a sort of
Withdrawl symptoms are things like hot and cold flashes, sleeplessness, anxiety, diareah, moodiness, gooseflesh, etc... also achiness...
if you are starting to feel any of these things you may be cutting your dose lower too fast... generally cutting every 4-6 days is best to give your body time to adjust to the lower dosage..
