What happens at rehab?

by Dog55, Oct 26, 2008 10:12PM
Just curious. Does anyone know what happens when you go into treatment for a opioid habit? If you enter an in-patient facility, do they make you get off cold turkey, do they taper you or what? Not going to rehab (can't afford it, for one thing), but just curious.

5 yrs ago I did an outpatient treatment.  I had already detoxed myself at home.  In Rehab, they work on STAYING sober.  In DETOX they actually get you off your doc safely in a medically controlled environment.  I just went through DETOX a month ago.  I used right before I went (of course).  they started giving me librium right when I got there.  The next day, they started me on subutex, and the day after that, suboxone.  They don't let you suffer.  They do all they can to make you as comfortable as they possibly can.  My doc is opiates, but there were many alcoholics there who were getting the librium almost every 2 hous, as well as other meds to help them out.  I would take the medical detox ANYDAY over doing it myself at home.  Call me a whimp but I don't care?
