What is the best detox method from oxy/roxy?

I am 22 years old n my boyfriend and I went from doing percs to oxys/roxys over the past 3 years(the entire time of our relationship) and yet again he wants to stop. I guess I do too but I do not agree with his idea of a method of detox; I say this bc it never works. I also feel like weening off is the best way to detox because by the second day of cold turkey we are fighting like crazy n can't take the aches n pains anymore. Does anyone think if we weened down to 15mgs a day for 2 days n then switched to methadone for a few it would help?

You can do this Lovesick.  Its tough but you dont have to be a prisoner to these pills anymore.   Check into the amino acids as your body needs some good supplements to help heal.  Attending NA will be very helpful also.  Surround yourself with supportive people....Stay positive!!!       sara

Well we have both been completely unsuccessful in staying clean.... We tried again today but no such luck. After watching intervention however I think we might stick to it this time. I plan on going through the wd and attending NA on wed. The methadone clinics in my area are no longer accepting new patients and I can not afford suboxine. Hopefully being sick will prevent a relapse.... If we make it that far. Just thinking about it gives me anxiety

It is great that you both want to get clean. However please check with a professionally managed detox facility of a medical doctor for a road to getting clean. Methadone is a very dangerous drug in itself. See what the pros tell you about it. \

There are OTV remedies for WD symptoms but use them with caution. Please check the health ages on thsi site for this information.

Good luck to both of you and pease continue to post.

Hi there. I just wanted to post and extend my support for you both in your decision to get off of narcotic painkillers. I think ad hoc tapering plans are problematic in the sense that people really should consult a medical proffessional first, and then develelop a plan that will help to promote a successful outcome.

Its not that i dont think it couldnt work, its just through the countless threads i have read over the years on this forum from people in similar situations with nearly identical plans, i have developed a healthy sketicism with regards to the longterm sucesses of plans like these. I think you are right to want to try something other than the same old, same old regimens that have failed in your past.

If you have the blessing and support of a responsible physician, i think your chances are improved dramatically and hopefully you will be directed to the relevant support systems in your area. I wish you all the best.

Kind regards Jeremy.
