What is the deal with Ultram?

After never having w/drawls in my life, today, after being on 3 tablets (50 mgs a day, for about 3 months now) and the minute i run out or don't take my dose, i get sick as sin-does this happen to anyone else? (cold chills, diarrehea, awful pains ect.) I have been told im allergic to Codine and have read it has Codine in it-is this true?

After 3 mos. of use your body is accustomed to having it.  The w/d is just as real as with any other opiate and some say it is worse.  It is, from my understanding, a synthetic opiate, which works on a specific receptor in the brain, much like the other opiates do.  Withdrawl (withdrawal) is still the same but for some they say it is worse as it stays in the body longer, I do not know if this is true.   Tramadol has been prescribed for some who are not able to take codine so this is true with your case.   If you can get a refill soon or decide to detox, you need to be careful with this drug and keep your dr. informed.  Hope this helps

You are having withdrawal symptoms from the Ultram. Do you use it for pain or for the high? As with opiates this is not a drug that will continue to help with chronic pain. You might want to consider alternatives and get through the withdrawals now. You will not have the mental withdrawal that can be 6 months to a year if you wait. Your doctor will be able to help you taper off so the withdrawals are not so bad with only 3 months. If he does not take this seriously, get another doctor. You can google or just type in tramadol in the search the community box at the top right of the forum page and hit go. Tons of people on here have gone through he11 bc of this drug. Good luck, Corey
