What now

Many thanks to all of you out there. My W/D symptoms are all gone except for the restlessness. But--my back pain is coming back--spinal stenosis and arthritis. I may have to think about the possibility of being on pain meds forever. I was really disappointed in my current doc, in that he gave me hydrocordone 5mg/325 and never did talk to me about what to expect and how to taper off. So I want to find a doc who really understands long term pain control. Someone who really know how to use various drugs and their effects. I would appreciate any  thoughts

I have been on Oxy type drugs for 12 years with no problems other than some memory loss for a bad back injury. Yes it did have some effects, but I made my way thru life without many problems until the Methadone.
My doctor switched me to 80MG of Methadone, was on it for 2 years, 2 years of being a zombe. I cut down over a period of 5 weeks to zero. My doc has given me 325 MG of Morphine Sulfate, three times a day.
I hurt like hell for a couple weeks, it's been close to a month now, and my legs still ach like crazy, hot baths help a lot for a short while.
I am one of the lucky one's who never became an addict, a dependent, yes. Never took more than needed or any other drugs.
From what I've read her, I'm one of the luckiest one's on the forum.
I'll get through the pain, my mind is so clear and getting better all of the time, I have emotion again. Methadone is the worst, you don't even know just how bad you are when you are on it. A good wife and the Lord have been my biggest help. I hope for the leg pain to go away in a few months, am following many of the suggestions.
To the one who said God does not Bless him, it's not true, all you have to do is pray in his name. He has blessed me and many others richly, just have Faith.
I've got this beat. I still hurt, have trouble sleeping and the other fun effects, but I'm over the worst.
I'll be on narcotics the rest of my life, but know what I can take and still be human. I also never take more than I absolutely have to. I'll take the pain rather than take so many drugs that I feel none. I much prefer being myself and fight thru the pain. It's worth it.
To all those who are fighting so hard to get off the worlds worst drug, hang in, pray and know it will get better if you can see it out.
May the Lord shine his face on all of you and give you peace, he's the real deal, not a pill.
God Bless, John

Maybe wait a bit longer before jumping back on that bandwagon??? I hear that pain meds over time can increase residual pain and with 6 days, I would think its still pretty early in recovery. Once u start becoming more mobile ( less sick I mean ) maybe re-evaluate your pain level....way to soon for these kind if decisions! Give it a week or two?

Stick around here and you will hear stories that truly make you feel blessed about your situation.  I know I did.  Your pain truly will feel different when you have some time in  You will be amazed at how much relief you get from OTC pain meds, ice, heat, PT, exercise, etc.  Congrats on pushing thru and keep fighting for a sober life!

Hi..I too have cervical sponlyois, arthritis, tendonitis& carpol tunel(clerk for 20 years) and both knees need surgery.. I dont want to get back on pain meds..I have been thinking about going and asking about arthritis meds. They never helped before but,I was taking loritab so,I dont know if it was because of that..I havent went yet,I want to wait and see if the pain subsides more..Been off methadone for 26 days and counting..Never want to go there again..As the poison leaves our system I think we start to feel better. The pain is still here..Some days it is bad but, most of the time I deal with it..Good luck with what ever u decide..
