What works at meetings.

What worked for me "and this is for those of you who want it, if you dont let it go in one ear and out the other". Try going to a newcommers meeting at AA or NA.  the first thing they tell  you is that only you can decide if you are an addict. The second and rest is what it was like"being adicted themselves" what happened"to them", and what its like now "not using anymore". Last they offer help and positive, not negative reinforcement.

Maybe thats what this forum should be a lot like.

Offer help that works for you, and tell what is going on in your life that you need help with. If we stick with these things the place will be a lot better.

This is my example of a positive post.
I quit drinking 16 years ago because I finally got convicted of DUI.
I Quit using Methamphedamine "Crystal, Meth, Dope, Ice, Whatever you want to call it" Dec 13, 2001 after using for 8 months, when they took me to jail for "posession with intent to manufacture sell or distribute" "Posession of precurssers to meth" Posession of "anhydrous ammonia", and last but not least "felon in posession of a hand gun". All totaled a minimum of 48 years. Strangely I never started drinking again with the meth, although I did a lot of perscription drugs.
I truely thank God for: lawyers, rehabilitation after paying a $1,000,000 bond, and AA/NA meetings where I've met a whole bunch of clean and new friends.
I stayed clean untill about a year ago when I started "legitimately" using pain killers, and then abusing them. I have quit cold turkey, with weaning, and with subutex, at different times.
Now I need to go back to some meetings and stay clean, cause life is great when I am clean.
Last but not least, I need to Thank God.
