What would trigger an Ambien CR overdose?

I have had problems over many years sometimes taking more medicine than I should have without knowing about it. The effects from these overdoses were obvious to my family immediantly. They do not happen very often and they haven't ever required medical attention. I have been taking Ambien/Ambien CR for several years now. I switched from the regular Ambien when the Ambien CR became available. Two nights ago I took my nightly migraine medications and my Ambien CR. I remember being awake for about 45 mins after that and then I remember nothing. Some how I was unconscience when I took 8 more Ambien CR 12.5 mg. I remember nothing after that. I went on a wild rampage in my room and destroyed everything in sight and I do mean everything. Then I managed to get to the Living Room where I fell down and entire flight of steps and a neighbor had to come rescue me because I was screaming bloddy murder. Then 911 was called and I was taken to the ER. All of this info was given to me later because I do not remember anything from that day. Not the destruction, not the fall, not the hospital, not coming home, none of if. What Happened??????

OH, also!......you mention having taken the Ambien WITH your migraine meds.  The effects of the Ambien would be intensified by this.

Sounds like amnesia from the Ambien to me bt.  It can happen.  While I was on Ambien, I had it big time and my family would later recount stories of what I'd done or said.  I didn't remember squat.  I'm glad you are all right.  You need to see the prescribing doctor and tell him/her this is happening to you.  You also need to stop the med. in my opinion, but you can't really do this cold turkey without a rebound insomnia.  This may not be a problem though, as your doc will probably prescribe another sleep med for you.

I don't know anything about Ambien,but lady67 does.I will send her a pm and ask her to look at your post when she gets here.I do recall members here who have been on it sharing the same types of things happening to them while on it.Keep posting..All the best..Kim
