Fentanyl is 80 to 100 times as strong as morphine. I was on them after surgery and it says on the box NOT to use for post op pain. I was on the 100mcg/hr for quite some time. The w/d can be horrible but my family dr.(who didn't put me on them) helped me do a very slow taper and I'm completely off of them now.
They do have their place. They can help w/ cancer patients and some chronic pain. A nurse practitioner stuck them on me when I was in rehab for PT on my hand and arm. Besides manonfire, who has been a treasured friend to me, I don't know of anyone who is on them now.
Take Care.....ST
i would be careful with those also (i think) i heard that there is a patch you can cut open and suck the gel out of it and get wasted that way also...i am just not sure which patch this is....but maybe she doesnt know about that? that could work for you...maybe someone else will know if i am right or wrong about this....
I have prev.been on Oxycontin for about 5 yrs, 1yr ago my doc switched me to ms contin (this is for 2 lower back fusions that have left my left leg numb and both legs and lower back aching const.) during the time I was on the Oxy he also had me try the F patch.I ca't describe the nervous, irratable, heart fluttering experiance I had with it and besides all that Idid not recieve any pain reduction, That is my opinion of the fentanyl patch, I wished it would have worked cause these pills are a pain of there own. If you have insurance to help pay the cost I woul try it it might be different for you. I didn't have med help and payed the whole cost, what a big waste for me
