When Does The Drive To Get Things Done Come Back????

When Does The Drive To Get Things Done Come Back????

As some of you already know, I was on methadone for 5 mo's or so. Maybe 6. I cut down to 15mgs and have been useing the pills to tapper off.. I only have about a week or so left to go. But I just can not seem to get anything done.. I hate this so much.. When do you get your drive to get things done back?? It has stared to make me depressed.  I do not even get out of the house much. Just do not feel like going anywhere... This is so sad!!! I have a treadmill. Maybe I should try and get on it. Maybe that will help?? I do not know for sure.. Is there anything I can do to help motivate me? I tend to put things off as it is. So all this just makes thigs worse..

PLEASE HELP!!

It is very normal to lose energy when coming off of opiates, and to feel like ****. Exercise will help. Theres also a recipe for amino acids on the health pages that should help you feel better. I would even suggest looking up the effect that opiates have on your mind and body so that you have a better understanding.

Well as i am sitting on this computer and there is a weight bench in my living room.......... Anyways as I have been clean again for just 8 days i am not doing anything reallybut when in a couple of more days i feel better , from experience i do sit ups push ups skip and run on the treadmill and it makes me feel great. Exersise releases endorphines which is the same as drugs but you don't get the bad side effects!! you feel great and look good too.

First the disclaimer: everyone is different.

But for me it took about 3 weeks before I started really getting enough energy back to want to do anything. The first week was the worst of course... but somewhere in the third or fourth week, my motivation really started coming back enough to find doing some things enjoyable. At first, it was just little things - like I started enjoying and wanting to listen to music, then I actually felt like going out and buying something, etc... it starts small but slowly you get your old self back.

Oh and I would second the idea of making yourself do some light exercise. Not too much at first - I made myself just go on a walk for 10 min. and that was it in the beginning. There was no way I could force myself to do more. But that was enough to 'kick-start' my body into getting some energy back I think and I felt like doing a lot more physically as time went on.

I will mentally scream at myself to get off the couch and go for a walk (at a minimum)  My outlook always improves. It hasn't failed me yet.

I've got a little over 7 weeks off of methodone now and for me it was about week 3 when I finally started getting back into my daily routine and by week 4 I noticed my energy returning and it wasn't such a strain.I know it's hard but making yourself get up and do things even though every inch of you seems like it's fighting it ,will help so much.Just hang in there it does get better everyday.Peace.

i know ur feelings and walk...walk...walk....even short walks here and there thru the day...i went to the bach today...burnt and zapped of energy...gonna nap a bit...good days and bad days with the energy but my best days are those i stay active and work out...the days i lay low and give into it are the days i have no energy...sometimes we have to go make the energy come to us....get on that treadmill and go for it

maybe yu should consider a low dose of suboxone like 1mg a day just till you feel better and subs are much easier to get off of then methadone specially if you stay on a low dose of the sub. that is my goal i am on methadne at 98mg and am gonna taper down to 30 and do the switch then stay on the subs untill i feel ready to be completely free of all opiates
