My Dr. prescribed me a small dose of neurontin for opiate induced rls. It has helped me A LOT. I wish I had tried it sooner. I tried the potassium and bannanas and all but nothing helped like this. However I didn't try the otc rls meds. Just my experience....

I know what you are going through :(.. I know it's tough...but if you follow what Ariley13 suggest... I guarantee it will help a LOT!!!  I have short bouts of RLS/panicky feeling, but I get on top of it and go for a short walk, or eat something healthy and take deep breaths, or talk to someone which helps my body to calm down :).  the best way to get yourself better is NATURALLY.. :)  Good Luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer for ya!!! HUGGGGS :)

I know this sounds crazy but an old lady told me to put a bar of soap in my sheets :) last night was better, could have been the soap or in my head. I googled it and it is a homeopathic thing for RLS. If you are like me you will try anything :)

What was it you used the mag and potassium supplement for the RLS?

I found the Hyland's Restful legs to be pretty helpful; as well as a magnesium and potassium supplement.  I also found some relief form putting two bed pillows ON my legs at night. The pressure helped a lot.  I think the ace bandages are a great idea.
Good for you on the progress you've made!  You can do it.

Keep up the good work too. It's awesome you've made it this far, you can do it. It's a hard thing to do. I called and discontinued my script yesterday. I'm not going back. I wish you luck, you can do this. I hope you can get some rest.

Keep up the great work! I'm on day 4 of Sub w/d and I'm just miserable. As much as I want to call Doc and refill my RX, I've come so far and I'm not turning back. The RLS is my worst symptom too. I'm a SAHM so I need to sleep in order to be a good mommy! I've slept 5 hours in 4 days. Not exaggerating! But there's some great suggestions on here. Good luck!

Hi there! The RLS is one of the more annoying parts of detox. There is no set time frame for when this will stop. Everyone's different. I can tell you for me, the worst of it was over after a couple of weeks. Don't let that scare you though. I have nerve damage from a back injury that causes me to have RLS all the time. There are a few things that can help a little with this. Move, move move! The more active you can be, the better your legs will feel. Be sure to stay really hydrated and stay away from caffeine as much as you can. Increasing your potassium intake can do wonders. A hot bath right before bedtime with epsom salts usually will relax your legs enough for you to sleep. Sometimes, if all else fails, I will put either Icy Hot, or Vicks Vaporub on my legs (it's the menthol in them that helps with the aches), then wrap them snugly in ace bandages. This helps me tremendously. Just be sure not to wrap them too tight! Please just remember that this is temporary. It is awful, but it will pass very soon. You are doing a great job! Keep up all of the hard work and keep pushing forward. I hope you can get some relief very soon!

I know this part really blows but it will go away.  Are you drinking plenty of water?  Eating bananas?  They also have a supplement for this.  I believe it is called Hylands Restless Legs.....Ask the pharmacist about it.  Hope you start to feel better real soon!
