Hon I think that the issue is more the individual and how they relate to the drug.  There are loads of drugs that cannot be stopped abruptly, they are too often NOT scheduled.  an opioid does what it does.  If taken intermittently for acute pain, not so much worry, taking it on a timed schedule every day or even every other....tolerance, and dependence are inevitable, the addiction is up to you.

I know that Demerol is a stronger and more potent drug!

See the idiot doctor I have been seeing for my migranes (migraines) prescribed demerol instead of the 5 mg. lortab.

stronger would be  the meperidine however for some belive it or not it might not be as addicting lortab...(for some )

Meperidine (demerol) is pharmocologically the strongest. Avisg is correct though - no cookie cutter answers for this stuff. All bodies are unique.
