Who isn't on some kind of drug?

I have been an addict for 15 years of my 28. Yes, I am aware which drugs caused which problems and quit my DOC which was coke and Heroin. I have been a meth addict for 11 years though, it actually has helped me manage my ADHD and is not really a problem. BUT I have to get clean for the courts which means I can't smoke weed either. I quit everything else, I know I am an addict but this is america? rather its from a doctor or a guy on the street, we're all on drugs in one way or another. I have prescribed adderall now, klonapin and ambien and have been clean almost two months but how is that not just replacing one drug with another?

Maybe I did not communicate that accurately. Instead of categorizing and labeling substances. There are so many other ways of perception. it could be simple to just leave it at 'what our bodies consume'
I really do not know how else to explain any better. Vague maybe.
It is odd, no one ever understands me-like I speak different language.
**** the courts and that ****, That is not the right reasons to makes certain changes in life, I feel they have to be doing it for ourselves.
Yeah, I have been addicted t every much out there, but I have actually NEVER had a problem with my medications. No one truely believes me about that, which is understandable I guess. What other people think or assume doesn't matter really-I mean, I know with out a doubt that I do not abuse my medications.
I think part of the reason is that I am actaually very gratefull to have them prescribed and I do not want to ruin that.
I just saw my doc yesterday, I told him about how it has been going not smoking weed and I wish I had recorded it just because I felt it was funny. I bring it u and he response like, "oh yeah, that reminds me, when you start your diversion make sure you tell them which narcs you are on"
Does anyone know that the number one killing drug in america is alcohol which is the only legal one. No I am not on methadone, don't know where you got that. Everyone has their own definition of their own on what a 'drug' is. or isn't. Skip past that and I just refer to what my body consumes. herbs, coke, weed, booze, chocolate. ****, its all bad. This is all that and that this and...yes i see the obvious truths but I actaully think into things. It is bad why, who says, wheres there evidence and statistics?
I believe that NO TWO PEOPLE ARE THE SAME SO WE SHOULD NOT EVER TREAT TWO PEOPLE THE SAME!
Even my attorney who knows me and and did my ssi, agrees.
Chocolate, bad or good? who the **** really knows.
Caned air, they say that **** is HORRIBLE for you and the brain cells! Ok, WHO says? and why?elaborate?
wait a sec. This info came from someone on air- can't believe any of what they say. they are on air? ****!
Society is ****** up in my eyes?
What kind of response would be if doing a little dope here and there actaully saves lives? Hell maybe eric mark and tony would still be alive. All they needed was past that funk and out of their bad head.
For mark.

Hi there!

It's great that you've come this far, JUST please be very very cautious with your prescription medications, as most of them can be habit forming and are commonly abused.  It's very very difficult for an addict to go from abusing one drug, to be successful being compliant with another, just because it's legitimately prescribed.

You must keep your guard up, and I would recommend having an honest discussion with the doctor(s) who are Rx'ing these meds to you.  The more accountable you can be, the better.

I would even recommend having someone hold your meds and give them to you, any roadblock you can put up will help you.  Have you ever abused the Rx meds you listed above?

Make SURE that aftercare is on the top of your priority list too, whether you seek out meetings, addiction therapy, whatever works for you.  Once an addict, always an addict, so it's SO important to stay on top of your game at all times.

Best to you!

I am drug free except  for my prescription medication which are seroqual, lamictol, klonapin, Adderall and ambien.

I am not clean for the courts or because anyone is yelling down my throat. It is a change in my life I have chose to make and have actually come a long way the last few months and it has been anything but easy.

I read your posts and journals too and ditto on everything Atthebeach said.
I was on H years ago, survived some abusive relationships and know how damaging they are to your self esteem.  Please fight for your life; you are worth it.  You are so young.  I got of the H about the same age you are now and I remember how hopeless, worthless, and horrible I felt about myself.  I just gave into my addiction and decided I would just die.  Then God stepped into my life and I ended up in jail.  I was lucky to get into a good treatment program in jail and it saved my life.
Please get some help; if you go to meetings the people there will love you and help you until you can love yourself.  I'll be praying for you.  Keep posting; there are so many wonderful and supportive people on this site.  I'm rooting for you.

hello hun and welcome. I read your other posts and also your journals.
you are so young, you have used drugs for most of your young life.

having no family can be very lonely and depressing. you could very well be using drugs to be numb so you don't feel these emotions that hurt.
many people use drugs for this reason to bury emotional wounds, pains and scars. please find a psychologist, counselor, pastor, that you can talk with to work through these emotions. find a drug abuse support group, AA,NA, celebrate recovery there you will get the support you need.

being in the court system could be a blessing in disguise, yes they can make and help you get clean but you will have to do the work to stay clean.

many people have a hard time focusing on the tasks at hand, I know as an adult I have always had ADD, ADHD but as openmin24hours said it wasn't diagnosed years ago. I have just had to make adjustments in my life to compensate and adjust.

please don't stay with your boyfriend who abuses you, that is no way to live, it is better to be single than to live with his abuse.

I am sorry you lost your dog. that is sad. if your x doesn't take care of him you could wind up getting him back.

life is very much worth living, you need to find your self worth and feel better about yourself (self esteem). if your bf was abusing you I am sure he made you feel worse about yourself.
please hun take care of you, love yourself. each and everyone of us are special.

an addict will go from drug to drug looking for a new and better high,
always crossing addictions. taking the drugs even prescribed from a doctor are contributing to your addiction.

there is always hope, keep the faith...
stick around so we can encourage you and support you,
much love,
Debbie

I am totally confused about your post. Are you still taking the Methadone? Are you smoking weed on a regular basis? Plus you are taking Adderall and Klonopin too?
In my humble opinion...you are switching one drug for another.....
1. Is to get high....and
2. Because you have a mental illness which is ADHD.
If you are truly serious about getting clean, I would discuss your situation with your Dr. and make a decision to get off the meth and weed, and accept the fact that you have a mental illness and take the adderrall and Klonopin.
A lot of us self-medicate all of our lives because of some bad things that have happened to us that we cannot face or deal with yet. But there comes a time in life when you have to face your demons and say NO MORE!!!!! And get clean. But you have to want it bad. Good luck in your journey for a decision. We are all here to help you, keep posting and let us know more about this.

Hi there. I'm not really sure what to tell you. If you are not ready to get clean, then there's not a person, thing, or court in the world that is going to make you do it. It sounds like you aren't even close to being there yet. You are making a lot of excuses. Trust me, every single one of us has been there. We can help you, but you have to be willing and ready to help yourself. Do you want to get clean? Or are you just trying to do this because of the court thing? Think about it and answer very honestly (even if it's just to yourself). I hate being the bearer of bad news, but if you are just getting clean because you 'have to', it's not going to stick. Trust me, I've tried to quit for all kinds of people and in the end, it had to be for me to stick. I hope you'll stick around and keep posting and maybe do a little soul searching. We are here for you and want to help if we can. Peace, strength, and clarity your way.

I understand, the courts want you clean but your doctor wants you on drugs to help with your condition. So damned if you do and damned if you don't. Not easy! It's a tough personal decision for you to make for yourself, but you have to make it for yourself and yourself alone. Those 3 drugs aren't going to help you to stay clean with your disease of addiction, but will help you with the ADHD. If it were me I would be discussing this in depth with my doctor. It's a very serious question.

I have ADHD and it wasn't really recognized when I went through school back in the 50's and 60's. So, I had no prescriptions to help me deal with the condition. Actually It was a condition I didn't even know I had. Life was pretty tough in school, and I drank and drugged my way through. During the early years while playing in bands I discovered speed and found I could finally concentrate. But that stuff almost killed me. You and I have a lot in common! Now I often wonder how my life would be if I had the prescriptions you have going for you right now. I'm completely clean, but I must abstain from all mind altering chemistry to remain clean. That's a fact.

Glad you've arrived on this site. We can support you in any way you decide. Questions: When was the last time your mind was completely drug free? How did life treat you and how did you physically feel then?
