lesa is right...the opiates supress coughing. thats why some RX cough syrup preparations have hydro in them- it makes you stop coughing when you have a bad bronchitis or lung infection, etc..  so its the same theory as to why you get diarrhea when you quit taking it too-- opiates slow down everything in your body...your stools, your breathing etc and when you stop them-- your body goes crazy into fast mode again which can leave us pooping ourselves half to death, and coughing and sneezing a lot too. I dont get the latter two in WD but I know alot of people do. Im no stranger to the bathroom though, especially the last 2 days (Im on day 4 CT)  lol

I can not think of anything really but time as your lungs clear but others will be on that can maybe offer suggestions.. I also hope it is gone before your Dr.s appointment.. Take care :))

Hey thanks for the info.  I remembering the cough starting around day 2 of my WDs along with the sneezing and drippy nazals.
I was using the buckly's cough and cold and that did seem to help at night its during the day when its its harder especially first thing in the morning. Any advise on what will help it would be welcome.
I see my doctor on August 23 I am praying my cough is gone by then, if not I'll have her check it out.

Thanks again

The cough should clear as opiates suppress our breathing the lungs are going Oh Yeah air !! and as stated above due to the sinus drip can trigger this..It is a normal symptom for many but if it persist you should have it checked out to be on the safe side.Congratulations on almost 2 weeks under your belt.. This is so great !! Hope you are looking into aftercare as continued support is wise for the mental battle that lies ahead.. Welcome to Freedom of body mind and emotions.. lesa

It really just depends on the person. I sneezed for almost a month. The cough could be caused by the sinus problems common with withdrawal.
