Why am I having w/d's (terrible irritability) after tapering to 1-2 percocets a day?

Why am I having withdrawal symptoms after tapering down to 1-2 percocets a day? I get very irritable and can't stand myself! I need something for anxiety because this must be psychosomatic.

Hi Chan.
You have been on since 2014 so you had the old format. They have changed it to the new and maybe this is why you do not understand it. Are you on the Old or New one?

I have read other posting that you have replied in and it sounds like you are playing around with the taper???  Like taking a chip or a half here and there??If so this can cause some problems. YOU know the drill and what we suggest around here, as far as drinking fluids and vit/min & food. Are you getting that out-side support?? You & I are around the same age and the older we get the HARDER the detox is going to be. Each time around can be different. I wish you the best. Try to re-direct your thinking as much as possible..WE can be our worse enemy if we listen to those Voices between the ears. Hug!
Bless

Hey Channah, its because your body was use to taking a certain amount, when you get down as low as you have its a good sign to jump. At this point you are already started withdrawals. Tapering any further will only prolong the process. It should not be too bad or too long since you tapered.Make sure there are absolutely no percocets or drugs in the house, and that you have no access. This means canceling scripts and/or deleting and blocking dealer or "friends" phone #s. The temptation of backup pills is setting yourself up for failure. Gather things you may need like immodium, water, B6, B12 and some sleepy time or Valerian root tea. Green tea is detoxifying too. Congratulations! You've arrived! Don't forget to set your tracker and stay close.  Keep posting!

I've been through WD before and I know what to expect, but I don't remember having this hard a time getting off of so little. That's why I say I'm "psychosomatic". It's weird that the lower my dose has gotten, the less pain I have. I'm grateful for that!! I've been on pain meds  since I broke my hip in '09....so it's been a long time and my stupid body wants to have a tantrum??  gggrrrrr  (At least I have "Mirapex" for the restless legs thing.)
Thanx for your support. Shalom
I don't know how to work that "tracker".
Now I can't remember how to make a new post???
