Will I ever sleep again??

Will I ever sleep again??

I'm on day # 7 without any oxycodone and I'm just so tired. I'm not really having a lot of trouble with urges, just still unable to sleep. Of course I am in pain from the original reason I started on pain meds. I've been taking them fairly regularly for about four years, but certainly much higher doses this past year. I'm just hoping that sleep will come to me soon. I think if I could just sleep for several hours I would be able to appreciate the "new, drugless, me". Has anybody had the same problem? Oh yeah, I would have to say that days four and five were the worst for w/d.

Problems with sleep are one of the symptoms that linger around the longest.I've had problems with sleep for years, long before w/ds.I have recently been using this otc sleep aide called Alteril and it is really working wonders for me.It's all natural ,contains valarien, melatonin and an amino acid. You can get it at Walmart. It's helps me so much when I take it.Hope this helps...Kim

I also used melatonin and valerian root together.. Congratulations on day 7 :) My original pain has gotten better over time. not as intense.. I wish you sleep and that your pain lessens soon.. lesa

I've been using Alteril also and before I detoxed I think it helped me get some sleep. I, too have had trouble sleeping for years, possibly because of the oxy's. I'm only taking one, so maybe I'll up it to two and see what happens. Thanks for the reply.

SLEEP? whats that!! oh I remember now its that thing you do at night!! I used melontonin (Spleeing?) It does come back but i think its the symptom of w/d that is the last to go. I tried ambeim but when i woke uo i felt like i came too instead of waking up. experiment with different otc things till you find what works for you. good luck

Thanks, I hope that happens to me, too! I know it really helps to read these posts. I felt ashamed that I had allowed myself to become addicted to something, but I now know that it happens to the best of us.

hi newchapter..i laughed when i read your post..okay, i know its not funny, but when i was in w/ds i would cry for sleep.  it was horrible.  nothing helped me, not even prescriptions.  good news is it does get better.  sleep and energy are the last two things to return.  after a month i did get some sleep...but it still was not good.  i think at about 2 months it started to get good.  dont give up..this too shall pass, it just passes slowly.  keep posting.

LOL!! Just a distant memory, huh? I tried Ambien too, and felt the same way you did when I woke up. I actually had telephone conversations after taking it that I could not remember having. Scared me. Of course the pain meds and alcohol probably had something to do with it too.

It's great to hear about everyone's experience with lack of sleep during w/d because I know now that it will come back, it's just going to take a while. It's especially hard because I have had to work during this week from hell, but I can look at it now and be proud of myself, because I made it through to the other side and now it's Friday!!!! Thanks to all for your posts!!!
