I take Cymbalta and it really helps me. You should just talk to a professional and see what they say. If it will help w/ the depression then you should give it a try!
Going to mention the aminos but i see that gtm already did....5-htp helps with seratonin...tyrosine helps with dopamine, phenylalanine as well helps with dopamine...methionone helps receptor repair as well
there are so many ADs out there and if u take one that is not in the area u r deficient in...it will do nothing for ur depression at all....i took lexapro..an ssri ..to quit narcs as it was recommended to me to get on one before quitting...i stayed on it 3 months and stopped..i had tried it before with no results as well...seratonin is not my problem obviously since ssris help seratonin levels...talk to ur doctor...cymbalta is very strong and can make people feel tired til they get used to it but it covers almost all the receptors as does the tryptillines like elavil and they also aid with sleep...i hap hazardly started on wellbutrin for nicotine cessation a couple of months ago and my energy level improved immensely..WB is dopamine related and this must have been what i needed...tyrosine worked well for me during detox so it makes sense that i needed the dopamine..tyrosine an make some people jittery in large amounts...talk to ur doctor but many just dont know much about the differences in them.....I am not big on ADs either and the aminos would be my first try
Another good option is amino acids. Look in the Health pages for the amino acid protocol. there are several that come to mind. SamE helps with mood and pain. L-Tyrosine helps with mood and energy, 5 htp etc..
i have never been depressed before either. but my doctor put me on cymbalta for the depression of tapering and quitting. it did help. took about a week or 2 to kick in though. and it was very easy to wean off of. You don't feel high or anything when you take it. but if i forgot to take one day it will make me grouchy and irritable.
your just going down another crappy road. There wd can be pure hell. I was on zoloft for 10 years and when i stopped i had 3 months of my wife tieing my shoes cause i couldnt remember things plus a feeling i cant describe, much worse then opiate wd. If you never needed them then i would seriously consider letting your brain come back and toughen it out for a few months to see.
If you just cant and have to go on something, low dose celexa or zoloft is your best bet imo.
