Will percocet prevent a fiorinal withdrawal?

As stated in a previous post, my mom suffers from an addiction to fiorinal.  She has been admitted to the hospital this evening with a blood clot.  I arrived an hour or so later and the nurse was reviewing the doctor's orders with my mom.  Long story short, the doc's orders were for percocet instead of the fiorinal.  My mom said she'd had it once many years ago and it had made her nauseous.  The nurse said she could talk with the doc about it in the morning.  So... I was wondering... I'm sure my mom didn't tell the hospital the quantity of fiorinal she is used to taking (about 12 a day) so if she has percocet will that help her not go into withdrawal?  I know she had my dad carry a ton of fiorinal in the hospital in his briefcase.  I'm not sure why the doc would specifically prefer percocet over the fiorinal but she does have constipation issues and the nurse asked about this so maybe that's why?

Anyway, I'm hoping my mom will be okay if they give her the percocet instead.

Thanks!

Percocet will not help with Fioricet withdrawl. Percocet is an opiate and fioricet is a barbituate. It would be wise to inform the doctor because stopping fiorocet abruptly could be dangerous.
