Withdrawal Advice- PLEASE READ

I was on opiates for three years, tried to detox before but only lasted a few days because of the w/d's. I finally decided to end this addiction for good. I went in with a great attitude and a willingness to take on whatever came. I started working out like crazy a month before the detox and eating better- lots of fruits, veggies, and lean protein rich food. I did some research online about easing withdrawal symtoms and found this site. I combined the thomas recipe and amino acid protocol and started those one week before. I omitted a couple things tho- especially the benzos the thomas recipe called for, I didnt want ANY RX's just natural stuff. My WORST day was day one- and that was very tolerable. I have had hardly ANY symtoms. I feel better now than I have in YEARS! Im only on day 7.... please please try this method. Really try and mentally prepare and go in with a POSITIVE attitude. I also did a 'foot spa detox' on day one, and that may have helped as well. Alot of spas/chiropractors/salons have them for a small fee to use. If you would like, I can post exactly what I did/doing

Hey, Tryingtochange,
Have you tried Super Snooze by Sundown Naturals? You can also find it under Puritains Pride brand in some markets. That is really what helped me sleep. I, too was getting no sleep until day 3 I tried this and I started getting 6-8 hours a night! Eventhough I am now through wd, I still take it because it seems to calm me without leaving me groggy in the morning. Plus it is natural and very affordable (I think I paid like $9.99 for a 45 day supply). Try CVS or walmart. And I found that the other vitamins in it, calcium, magnesium, L-Taurine help with RLS. Hope you start sleeping soon! That is probably the worst wd symptom in my opinion.

Thank you everyone for the words of praise and encouragement!! I wouldnt have done it when I did if it wasnt for this site. this_big has been a major influence in my sucess thus far. I am greatful for all of you, and I too would like to congratulate each one of you for your progress!!

Tryingtochange,

As far as sleep goes, the first 4 days or so I didnt get much 'good' sleep. I did sleep, but kept waking up every hour or so. No symtoms with it, just tossing and turning. I think the potassium REALLY helped with the RLS, as well as exercising. I took the amino-acid for sleep (cant remember the nam, as its home), with melatonin and valerian root and one OTC sleep aid, and have been sleeping fine. The past two nights especially- but I also went to gym and ran 6 miles...lol. I needed to be SURE I got some sleep! =)

I cant stress enough how highly I recommend this method. I will def post in my journal. Keep up the good work everyone!!

Good work!  It takes alot of personal devotion.  Im happy you found what worked for you.  I agree with the work and planning.  Its so important in our process.  With sleep, exercise works wonders.  I would do an activity till I was physically spent.  And It made me sleep at least a bit more.  I didnt run into the issue but my first detox.  The rest of them I would sleep through it.  I think my body was so tired form all the stuff I took.  And them I woud really push it in exercise.  And it was done and Id sleep for days.. Bad dreams but, I was sleeping.

But have you been able to sleep??  That's what I need just a good 8-10 hour nightly sleep!! lol   Congrats on the easy withdrawals mine sucked but it was great in the long run.  Well not really long run i'm on day 16 and feel great except for the sleep thing.  I took nothing through the w/d's except eating well, multi vitamin, and exercise (even though I didn't feel like it). The first week was horrible but nothing that wasn't worth every minute of it!  Oh and to anyone having trouble with no appetite during w/d then get watermelon!  I ate almost a whole one in a sitting lol .  Well I hope you continue to get well and anyone else reading this it's not that hard you just have to want it!!!!! God Bless to all.
