Withdrawal from Paxil

by kathy o, Aug 23, 1999 12:00AM
I have gone to a doctor and have been trying for 2 months now to get off of Paxil. I slowly tapered it off, finally going to 5mg. and then stopping it. I have been extremely sick. I throw up about 3 times a day and am very dizzy all the time. I have been feeling depressed again, but not sure how much of this is just due to being sick all the time. I have been totally off of it for 1 1/2 with not much let-up in the sympoms. Is this normal??? My doctor said that it was unusual to have so many side effects. I'm on Meclizine for the dizziness and Prochlorperazine for the nausea. They help, but am still feeling horrible. I had read that it takes 2 weeks for the symptoms to subside. I truly feel that this withdrawal should be made apparent to anyone given the option of taking this drug. Are there any other meds that would be more appropriate to take to feel better?? This is worse than any depression I have ever been through.
