Withdrawal question

Withdrawal question

Hi Everyone. I had been using oxy from 150-300mgs orally for last 5 months.  I took my last dose on Monday at 1pm.  24 hrs after I took 2mgs sub and it helped slightly. since then I have tapered to 1 mg today. I feel crappy so far with extreme depression and anxiety. no runs but RLS no sleep hot cold chills etc. I am out of sub and getting more is not an option. I was able toi get a hold of 10 xanax for the weekend but I need your guidance and knowledge about what the next week will bring me.  did the Sub help me get through the heaviest of oxy withdrawals? did it only prolong them? Please help with any insight you can help me with.  Any reason why the Sub didnt help me more? and did it indeed maybe help me with the worst of oxy withdrawals as it has now been 96 hrs?  Thank you so much everyone.  I am so very scared about what is to come...

You will have more pain you may need to go to the er and tell them your story and maybe they can get you in treatment for these drugs or at least tell you who you can talk with about a treatment center.  good luck

Hi...try to relax a bit... If you took ur last oxy on Monday then I would expect you to have a day or 2 more of feeling bad before it really turns around. I was taking oxynorms for a year straight everyday and I was up to 250mg a day when I just quit CT 28 days ago. It was Helllll but only for the for the first 5 days and specifically days 4 and 5. It was my only detox and o don't know if that's the case for you but u were def taking alot of oxycodone as well but you have jot had any in your system for 4 days so your body is slowly getting used to it now .... The mind is something different. I took no pills when I stopped 4 weeks ago and maybe it's because I wasn't at all familiar with what I would go through but I am stronger because of it. If you don't need the Xanax then don't take em. Just having them practically ensures that they will be gone this weekend though. As far as the sub question ...since I don't have any experience with that then someone else will be along to speak on it. Your physical symptoms today are all indicative of detoxing from Oxys. Try not to be scared because fear is the last thing you wanna deal with now. Just take each hour and day as it comes and deal with the physical discomfort that's there and not what we perceive to be there. Try to come on here asmuch as poss.  There are always people here to answer questions and help and support others through this it has helped me tremendously these past weeks. 4 days is great! Please keep on keepin on!!

Hi,

I am certain that the Suboxone did very little for you. If you had gone to a doctor and did the Suboxone program under supervision, they would have assessed your withdrawal according to The Cows Chart (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale).

I am a little concerned that you now want to take another addicting drug such as Xanax to help and again, not under doctor's supervision.

You have most likely gone through the worst of the physical withdrawal and it would be great if you could just hang on and finish it without any more medication.

There is great support here and we will help you as you go along so stick around.

And I was freezing for the first week and off and on thereafter for a couple more days. Hot flashes were with me only for a day or twoax. Everyone is different in this process but we all wanna help the next person who begins their new life by stopping this madness.  I don't think u need an er or will experience more pain as was stated. It will be difficult at times and if you ever think you seriously need med attention then get it. But although I thought I couldn't take it at times... I just tougher it out and it passed real fast. Try to stay as active as poss even though that the last thing you feel like doing.... it really helps!

I dont think the Sub really did anything for you.  Sub is a very powerful opiate and needs to be taken under a doctors supervision, so does Zanax.  Getting this from another source is not a good idea.  A big part of this recovery is stopping the addictive behavior which includes getting pills from someone else.  No sense adding more misery to this.  Keep talking with us.  sara

The thing about suboxone, is it has a VERY long half-life.  The way it was explained to me from a recovering sub addict is like this.

The average half life of suboxone is 37 hours.  That means 37 hours after you took your first dose, ½ of that dose is still in your system.  So if you took your original dose of 2mg, 37 hours after that 1mg was still in your system.  So if you took another one mg 24 hours after the first 2mg dose, your now at 3+mg's.  As it was explained to me, suboxone fills the opioid receptors that your normal drug of choice acts on, and allows that drug to be metabolized out of your system, while the sub covers the withdrawals.  After 3-5 days (depending on dosage/time of use/bmi/etc) your DOC (drug of choice) has cleared your system, and you can begin to taper off of the suboxone before it latches on too hard. IE the "quick suboxone taper".

I hope that made sense.  But either way, your getting closer to getting away from narcotics, a very hard decision, but one you have made.  My suggestions would be, since you are 4 days out from taking any oxy, stay away from the sub and see where your at.  I think you'll be surprised that most of the physical detox symptoms have passed.  And as Sarah said, be very careful with the xanax, if you are to take it, take as LITTLE as possible, and only if you are really having a panic attack, or horrible anxiety.  Xanax is the easiest benzo to get hooked to IMO, as it has the shortest half life, its effects wear off very fast and that tends to lead to re-dosing, especially among addicts.

I wish you luck, stick around the forum. Post when your feeling down, post if your bored, do anything in this time to keep yourself positive about the decision you've made. Life is much better on the other side! i promise

Thanks for your awesome response. So it would seem that its not a total loss of the last 4 days then. I expect I will feel worse in 36 Hrs or so but im hoping not as bad as I would have cold turkey. as far as the benzo I will absolutley take none unless necessary. the 2 prior days I felt as if i was having panic attacks and extreme jitters.  That is when i secured them. since then i have not felt that level of anxiety so i havent taken any yet and will not unless im at that level again.  So when the sub runs out of my system completely It would have been 5+ days without oxy so thats good.  with such a short term use I shouldnt expect any withdrawal of sub  right? just the residual effect from opiate withdrawal?\

Sorry for run on sentence etc .....

Thanks again to everyone taking the time to respond. it helps so much.  please continue.

From my understanding yes, you should be "ok" after the suboxone clears out of your system.  You will still feel the post withdrawal effects, malaise, restlessness, RLS, insomnia.  Thats part of the healing process, and takes time to beat.  But the initial pain of detox will *most* likely be over with.

I know how horrible the RLS and overall jitteryness is, and i can tell you from past experiences that trying to fall asleep with rls and the effects of xanax is pretty horrible.  I personally hate the way benzo's make me feel, and i ended up awake all night feeling retarded from the xanax.

As all of the wiser members here always say, Protect your clean time. Cut off all ties with old dealers, anybody you got anything from. Whether its a friend a doctor or a drug dealer.  I didnt see you say anything about prescriptions or anything so im assuming you used recreationally. (if not, i apologize and please, correct me).  Life is SO much better after we get over the withdrawals.

Congrats on your clean time! keep it up!

Thanks reset.

yes it was indeed recreational that started with ruptured discs etc.  I have cut ties thanks. Ill tell you the internet is a scary place.  It can be your best friend or worst enemy during W/d. Im very glad I found this place.  I keep kicking myself for taking the 1mg sub at 6am.  Wish I hadnt.  But oh well I guess bring it on. =(

Thanks everyone.

NE,  Congrats on making this step!!! it's HUGE. You should absolutely feel good about yourself for doing this. I know you're hurting right now, but IT WILL PASS. As others have posted, be very careful with the xanax. Benzos are very tricky and hellish to get off after long-term use. If you don't need to take the xanax, don't. If you need to for a couple of days, and you haven't been taking it prior to now, then that's ok. ALso, stop kicking yourself for
taking the subs That's done. Focus on TODAY. Just for today, don't use.
When tomorow gets here, then you can do the same. READ posts here.
There is a wealth of helpful, first-hand info about detox, recovery, physical emotional and mental symptoms, helpful advise about how to minimize those symptoms and much, much more! Hey, i sound like an info-mercial!

i was taking up to 900mgs of oxy/day.
i went to hospital and did a 5-day rapid detox on suboxone... i was using too much oxy to do it on my own without stroking out. trust me, i tried. the suboxone helped unbelievably, but just enough to get out of the hospital and into inpatient treatment.  that was back in august.  i still had about 10 days of withdrawals once the suboxone left my system (RLS, headaches, anxiety, you name it.. but i will say again, the subs saved my life... i'm just happy i didnt take them for more than 5 days).  my point is, you seem like youre on enough oxy that youre gonna have to go through some garbage to get off them.  it took about 40 days till i felt like my old self... i'm now 193 days clean, and i would have never in a million years thought i could quit even for a full day.  i'm still in outpatient treatment (all voluntary).. but i was the guy that would read these posts and say "i dont need aftercare"... finally i realized i did need it.  it's the only thing that has kept my a$$ clean.  sometimes it's super hard to see the hope and light at the end of the tunnel when you're life is wrapped up in opiate addiciton... sometimes it's impossible... but i promise there's light.... especially if you take those xanax and flush them down the toilet.

norco thanks for your story.  I have never taken a xanax b4 so in all honesty im not to worried about that.  i gave them to my wife to hold in case of extreme anxiety only. Im motivated as i sit here and see my beautiful 6 month old look at me and smile.  Im anxious for the withdrawals to come so i know what im up against and so i can get over them
Thanks to everyone who keeps posting.  I love seeing new posts and reading , it make the time go by faster.

Thanks

Hi there and welcome!! Congratulations on your achievements-coming clean to your wife&mom, getting off the oxys, and now about to kick the subs too!! The last few days have NOT been in vain!! With Suboxone, you definately should be under medical supervision, and when you start them you actually have to be in full withdrawls otherwise it doesn't work the way it's supposed to. So,the worst of the physical w/d's should be over with. Now comes the mental part-the cravings, etc. Stay strong!! You've cut all the necessary ties which is a HUGE step to take!! Keep posting, read post. I also suggest that you add the Addiction Tracker to your page if you haven't done so already. For some reason I really feel it's good to actually see your clena time. It also tracks your symptoms, etc. so it's a great tool to use. As far as adding the Xanax...benzos are a whole different monster. That being said, they do have their place when used correctly. Procuring them from the street however is an addicitve behavior...if you truly feel you need to add them, please seek medical advice and add them under their care only. I wish you all the success in the world. you CAN do this. Stay strong, guard up,and stay here with us. Here to support you..."A"

i jumped cold turkey off of oxy. 120-140mgs a day for eight months straight. oxy use for three years. because i ran out every month id have two choices..either ride out withdrawls for a week or buy on streets. at first i could ride out the withdrawls but as time marched on they intenseified and i bought off streets. i did not have any subs..and flushed 54 40mgs and 54 15mgs. scareiest thing i ever did. i did that on nov 17 and am here today with no oxy.
i dont think the subs really will get in the way. it was not in vain. but i would advise you no more subs...ride it out. flush the xianex..you dont need them this far out. i would highly recommend talking to a doctor about anti depressants...oxy zaps your brain seritonin and is mental trip after a week...each day your clean is a victory. never forget that. dont expect any one pjticular thinf

Last few hours my stomach has gotten bad.  Really bad runs cramps etc. To be honest as of now the only symptom to get worse in last 48 hours has been my stomach.  Maybe the subs only kept that at bay, who knows. Random chills, Stomach, insomnia (8hrs sleep since monday) I can deal with.

Thanks everyone

yes i have read recipe. im sticking with Immodium and advil.  Ive been trying my best to eat but its so hard man...  Ive lost 12 lbs since Monday which ***** but before anyone freaks out i was weighing in at 255 so I was overweight. still not healthy I know but  Im gonna try and muscle some food down today. Im 30 + hours from my sub and it seems the only thing that got worse was my stomach.  But at the same time as the runs started my hunger has improved.

Thanks Bama..

Great job!! Let me suggest something to you.... STOP waiting for something bad to happen!!! When some huge wd symptom is supposedly gonna come crashing through the wall and hold u hostage in Helllll for days. You are past the worst of the physical now that 5 days are behind u. Your stomach issues and lack of sleep get better each day. Stop lookin at the clock and waiting for the sub to supposedly be gone because bur just setting yourself up for something nonexistent to happen. Your mind will play that game win you and it's my helpful to u at all. Your moment of clarity today will turn into minutes and hours of clarity....eventually reestablishing itself permanently in your life. Stay strong and God Bless!!  ( keep posting )

North; I can't agree with Mike enough! I did the same thing when I was at 2 days...I was terrified of what was going to happen the next day...and I'm pretty sure I made all of it worse. At some point, maybe day 3 or 4, I just gave up and began to accept whatever was happening and dealt with it as best I could. Once I stopped thinking about how bad it was going to get, I felt so much better, like I was resigned to it.  Hang in there man. the other side is
amazing! It gets better every day.

Good morning everyone

Had a bit of a rough night sleep but I seem to feel better today then I have.  The further from the last sub I took the better I have felt for the most part. Little anxiety but better body temp regulation as of now. Only time RLS bothers me is when Iam in bed.  It would seem that I am on the right side of this thing.  Thank you all for your words and please continue to tell me if there is anything else.

Thanks

You are doing it man! I liked reading your last post just now. Doesn't sound the same as yesterdays and that shows a clear sign that u r beginning to work past this. Believe me , don't think about all the what if's cause that just creates 'see what I means'  .... I am proud of u man... The grip these drugs had on your life are being released and the only reason that's true is because YOU are retaking control again. Keep doing the right thing.... Fighting the good and honorable fight!
