Withdrawal sytems from vicodin

I. I'm 68 an have been on vikes for quite some time.3-4 yrs.  I'm on not just for the heck of it but just had some back surgery  that did not totally work right. Also have a totally blown shoulder.  Have had a Rgt. knee replacement and do need a left one too.  To top it off I have a left ankle that needs surgery.  At my age ? BUMMER!!  But I am blessed with a great wife and a great faith.
Story here is I ran out of vikes so I am trying to withdraw.  Read up on it and thought ok lets try it and see.  Yea, right..those of you who have been here know what's up.  Third day now...creepies seeming to go away.  Sleep *****. One thing I want to know is I'm sneezing a whole lot..wracking sneezes.  Chest hurts from them.  Is this a symtom?  Partof the flu symtom I read about?  If this goes it will be great but the pains from the other things I mentioned hurt a lot.  So I may need to go to a registered pain clinic for some leveling of the multiple symtoms.         Any  answers would be helpful.... Thanks

Yes sneezing is a symptom. I think i read somewhere opiates make everything constrict. While going through withdraw everything releases so to speak. Causeing the sneezing and the not so fun diarrhea. Not a good combo..lol..I've been though withdraws many times and this last time was the first for the sneezing. I would sneeze hard like 3-4 times at a time. It let up after about a week or so. It sounds like you have been through the ringer. I hope some day you will find an alternative to narcotics for pain relief. Good luck

Sneezing is Definately part of withdrawals!  A lot of people, me included, get sick during or shortly after withdrawals as well.  Like Dave said though, keep an eye on it...
Maybe some other people here can recommend some non-narcotic meds for pain so you can mention them when and if you go back to your pain doc.
Congrats on day 3!

I've had some of the runny nose and stuffy head stuff but not much sneezing..It could be a symptom that some experience but I would keep an eye on it. If it doesn't clear up in the next day or two, I would probably want to get it checked out...Today is the worst day for most before things start to reverse and slowly get better. After a week, thing improve fairly quickly..
